Mechanisms Involved in Focal Adhesion Signaling Regulating Tumor Anoikis Resistance

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Among the numerous malignant behaviors of tumors, metastasis plays a critical role in contributing to poor prognosis. Anoikis is a distinct form of apoptosis induced when cells detach from the extracellular matrix (ECM) or adhere to an improper ECM. It is a physiological obstacle to tumor cell metastasis. Anoikis resistance is considered to be

cGAS–STING Pathway Activation Enhances Antitumor Effect of Talaporfin Photodynamic Therapy Through ROS Production

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates the role of STING in photodynamic therapy (PDT) using talaporfin sodium. STING knockout reduced ROS generation and therapeutic efficacy, while combining a STING agonist with PDT enhanced antitumor effects. These findings suggest that STING regulates ROS homeostasis and can potentiate PDT outcomes.

MFG‐E8 Accelerates Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Formation by Enhancing ERK MAPK/NOX4 Axis‐Associated Oxidative Stress

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
MFG‐E8 promotes oxidative stress by upregulating NOX4 and activating the MAPK pathway, which increases ROS production and affects vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) apoptosis, thereby driving the progression of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). Resveratrol can inhibit the expression and function of MFG‐E8, reduce ROS generation, and lower the incidence ...

Salicylate plant defences reduce aphid nutritional quality and increase predator consumption

open access: yesEcological Entomology, EarlyView.
Salicylic acid‐induced defences diminish Macrosiphum euphorbiae performance and nutritional quality by reducing body protein and lipid content. Ladybird beetle predators (Hippodamia convergens) consumed more low‐quality aphids compared to high‐quality aphids, exhibiting compensatory feeding response to nutrient‐deficient p prey.

Studies of the membrane‐bound flavocytochrome MsrQ flavin mononucleotide (FMN)‐binding site reveal an unexpected ubiquinone cofactor

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
The membrane‐bound heme flavoprotein MsrQ is the specific electron donor for the periplasmic methionine sulfoxide reductase MsrP. Analysis of its flavin environment revealed that ubiquinone (UQ) is a cofactor for MsrQ. However, redox studies demonstrate that UQ cannot function as an electron donor for the MsrPQ system.
