Microstructures of Alkali Halide Eutectics LiF‐NaF and NaF‐NaCl

The microstructures of the directionally frozen eutectics are described and it is shown that the interphase separations vary in a manner similar to metallic eutectics. Addition of impurity to the binary mixtures produces cellular growth and the reactions of the lamellar LiF‐NaF and ribbonlike NaF‐NaCl to these freezing conditions are described.
