Deceleration in The Micro Traffic Model and Its Application to Simulation for Evacuation from Disaster Area [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Referring to the Nagel–Schreckenberg’s (NaSch) model, we have studied the impact of agent and diligent driver into the micro traffic model in the case of evacuation. This study is attention to the deceleration that added in the micro traffic model.

Comment on "Jamming at zero temperature and zero applied stress: The epitome of disorder"

open access: yes, 2005
O'Hern, Silbert, Liu and Nagel [Phys. Rev. E. 68, 011306 (2003)] (OSLN) claim that a special point $J$ of a "jamming phase diagram" (in density, temperature, stress space) is related to random close packing of hard spheres, and that it represents, for ...

Comparison of Receptor‐Mediated Endocytosis and Its Application to Enhance DNA Transfection by TFAMoplex

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
We developed an assay to distinguish cellular binding from internalization. Compatible with microscopy and high‐throughput screening, the method identifies ligand‐mediated uptake. Applying top candidates to a protein‐based DNA carrier enhanced transfection efficiency, providing a rational strategy to improve non‐viral gene delivery systems.

Long Noncoding RNA H19 Mediates STAT3‐Dependent Activation of Keratinocytes and Fibroblasts in Systemic Sclerosis Skin

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Dermal systemic sclerosis (SSc) fibroblasts and their exosomes can activate keratinocytes in SSc, with long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) H19 highlighted as the most up‐regulated RNA in their cargo compared with healthy controls (HCs). The role of H19 in SSc pathogenesis has never been investigated.

Individual Adaption in a Path-Based Simulation of the Freeway Network of Northrhine-Westfalia

open access: yes, 1996
Traffic simulations are made more realistic by giving individual drivers intentions, i.e. an idea of where they want to go. One possible implementation of this idea is to give each driver an exact pre-computed path, that is, a sequence of roads this ...

Tissue Damage in Rheumatoid Arthritis Is Genetically Linked to Low Peptidylglycine Alpha‐Amidating Monooxygenase Activity in Synovial Fibroblasts

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Both susceptibility to, and severity of, rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is associated with the rs26232 C allele. Our primary aim was to identify the biologic mechanism underlying this association. Methods Expression of surrounding genes was compared among rs26232 genotypes.

Le rôle d’Otto Nagel dans l’organisation de la Première Grande Exposition d’art allemand

open access: yesRevue des études slaves
The First General German Art Exhibition in the USSR (1924-1925) was a significant cultural event organised with the active involvement of Otto Nagel, a self-taught German artist and member of the Communist Party. Nagel, as part of Künstlerhilfe, played a

Being Someone Else [PDF]

open access: yes
Could I have been someone other than who I am? Philosophers from Williams to Nagel to Lewis have been tempted to answer 'yes', but how can we make sense of such a view?

Interleukin‐2 Deprived State of Regulatory T cells and Their Recovery by Low‐Dose Interleukin‐2 in Patients With Inflammatory Myopathies

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Regeneration and expansion of Treg by low‐dose interleukin‐2 (IL‐2) therapy is considered a potential treatment strategy for a wide range of autoimmune diseases. To provide a pathophysiologically‐based rationale for low‐dose IL‐2 therapy, we investigated whether reversible defects in the Treg–IL‐2 axis emerge in inflammatory myopathies ...
