Strength of Shear Nailed Connections in Thin Steel Sheets
, 2021This paper investigated the potential applicability of the specification equation for the shear pull-out strength of a power-actuated fastener (PAF) connection to nail connections between s...

Fully Reversed Cyclic Loading of Shear Walls Fastened with Engineered Nails
Journal of Structural Engineering, 2009Fifteen shear walls, each constructed with either conventional or engineered sheathing nails, were tested under fully reversed cyclic loads. Four types of conventional nails (named 0.113, 0.113R, 0.131, and 0.148 nails) and three types of engineered nails (named EN1, EN2L, and EN2H nails) were used.

Machine Vision for Analysing the Position of Fastening Nails on Wooden Railway Sleepers
Signal and Image Processing, 2011Wooden railway sleeper inspections in Sweden and to a large extent elsewhere are carried out manually by a human operator; visual inspection being the most common approach.

Static and dynamic tests of timber shear walls fastened with nails and wood adhesive
Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering, 1991This paper presents an experimental investigation into the seismic behaviour of timber shear walls fastened with nails alone or with nails in combination with wood adhesive. The responses of both types of shear walls were determined under slow, quasi-static racking loads and also under dynamic, earthquake-induced conditions.

New Nonlinear Roof Sheathing Fastener Model for Use in Finite-Element Wind Load Applications
, 2008Performance-based design is being developed and implemented in seismic and fire resistant design. The field of structural wind engineering has introduced several techniques that may eventually lead to performance-based wind engineering for buildings such

Wood Shear Wall Performance: Influence of Sheathing Nail Head Geometry
, 2009Wood shear wall performance is affected by the materials used for construction including the sheathing fasteners. The model building codes permit different fasteners for sheathing attachment in terms of diameter and length.
