Advances in Fusion Energy Research
Fusion power may offer a long-term energy supply with an uninterrupted power delivery, a high power-generation density, and no greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to preventing the worst effects of climate change and making an enduring contribution to

Citation analysis of LANL High-Energy Physics E-Prints through Science Citation Index (1991-2002) [PDF]
This investigation provides evidence that e-prints are an integral component of the scholarly communication of physicists. This was especially shown to be the case for the area of high-energy particle physics.

Neutron- and neutrino-induced reactions : their physical description and influence on r-process calculations [PDF]
When I started this thesis my supervisors F. K. Thielemann and T. Rauscher spoke to me enthusiastically about the exciting and interesting field of nuclear astrophysics at our very first meeting.

Electrified higher-dimensional brane intersections [PDF]
We discuss the duality of intersecting D1–D5 branes in the low energy effective theory in the presence of electric field. This duality is found to be unbroken. We also deal with the solutions corresponding to two and three excited scalars in the D3-brane

Euclidean N=2 supergravity [PDF]
Euclidean special geometry has recently been investigated in the context of Euclidean supersymmetric theories with vector multiplets. In the rigid case, the scalar manifold is described by affine special para-Kähler geometry while the target geometries ...

Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

The Rubakov–Callan scattering on the supergravity monopole [PDF]
We study small perturbations around the supersymmetric CVMN monopole solution of the gauged supergravity in D=4. We find that the perturbation spectrum contains an infinite tower of Coulomb-type bound states both in the bosonic and fermionic parts of the
