Prevalence of AAS-Positive Samples at Drug Abuse Laboratory Sweden Between 2014 and 2023 and Sub-Study of Dual Use of AAS and Narcotics. [PDF]

open access: yesDrug Test Anal
Throughout 2014–2023, over 20,000 AAS analyses have been conducted at the drug of abuse laboratory, Karolinska University Hospital. Approximately 20% and 2% of the samples have been positive for AAS, with no trends of increase or decrease. Around 50% of the AAS‐positive samples were also positive for narcotics (year 2022–2023), with gender differences;

Effects of nandrolone decanoate on telomere length and clinical outcome in patients with telomeropathies: a prospective trial

open access: yesHaematologica, 2022
Androgens have been reported to elongate telomeres in retrospective and prospective trials with patients with telomeropathies, mainly with bone marrow failure. In our single-arm prospective clinical trial (clinicaltrials gov. Identifier: NCT02055456), 17

Heart Reaction to Nandrolone Decanoate plus Two Different Intensities of Endurance Exercise: Electrocardiography and Stereological Approach [PDF]

open access: yesAddiction and Health, 2018
Background: Regarding the negative effects of androgenic anabolic steroids (AASs) abuse, the long-term effect of nandrolone decanoate with/without two intensities of endurance exercise training was investigated on heart tissue and electrocardiogram (ECG)

Nandrolone decanoate and testosterone undecanoate differently affect stress hormones, neurotransmitter systems, and general activity in the male rat.

open access: yesBehavioural Brain Research, 2022
Anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS) are frequently used to improve physical appearance and strength. AAS are known to affect muscle growth, but many AAS-users also experience psychiatric and behavioral changes after long-term use.

Lipid peroxidation in rats treated with vincristine sulphate and nandrolone decanoate

open access: yesArquivo Brasileiro de Medicina Veterinária e Zootecnia, 2011
Brain and serum lipid peroxidation was studied in rats treated with vincristine sulphate and different doses of nandrolone decanoate. Thirty rats were distributed into six groups (n=5). The treatments were applied once a week for two weeks.
