Development of a Lyophilization Process for Long-Term Storage of Albumin-Based Perfluorodecalin-Filled Artificial Oxygen Carriers

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2021
Every day, thousands of patients receive erythrocyte concentrates (ECs). They are indispensable for modern medicine, despite their limited resource. Artificial oxygen carriers (AOCs) represent a promising approach to reduce the need for ECs.

Supra and subgingival application of antiseptics or antibiotics during periodontal therapy

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Periodontal diseases (gingivitis and periodontitis) are characterized by inflammatory processes which arise as a result of disruption of the balance in the oral ecosystem. According to the current S3 level clinical practice guidelines, therapy of patients with periodontitis involves a stepwise approach that includes the control of the patient ...

Enhancing palbociclib efficacy with low toxicity in breast cancer using polycaprolactone-based nanocarriers

open access: yesResults in Chemistry
Breast cancer, stands as a prevalent form of cancer that results in a significant number of fatalities annually. Palbociclib (PAL) functions by impeding the activity of CDK4 and CDK6 proteins, thereby halting the division and generation of new cells ...

Investigating the Therapeutic Effects of Albendazole, Mebendazole, and Praziquantel Nanocapsules in Hydatid Cyst-Infected Mice

open access: yesPathogens
Drug resistance is the main challenge in treating parasitic diseases, including cystic echinococcosis (CE). Hence, the current study aims to investigate the effect of nanocapsules containing albendazole (ABZ), mebendazole (MBZ), and praziquantel (PZQ) on

Synthesis, characterization, and cytotoxicity of doxorubicin-loaded polycaprolactone nanocapsules as controlled anti-hepatocellular carcinoma drug release system

open access: yesBMC Chemistry, 2022
Background Free doxorubicin (Dox) is used as a chemotherapeutic agent against hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), but it results in cardiotoxicty as a major side effect. Hence, a controlled Dox drug delivery system is extremely demanded.

Triplet‐Triplet Annihilation Enhances Photochemical Curing Contrast for Vat‐Based 3D Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Triplet–triplet annihilation photopolymerization (TTAP) resins enhance curing contrast for digital light processing (DLP) 3D printing compared to conventional Type I and II photopolymerizations at matched optical densities. By exploiting a superlinear initiation response, TTAP preserves fine details, allowing reliable fabrication of complex structures ...

Effective Penetration of the Oxidized Keratin‐Rebonding Materials Into Hair Shafts Based on Charge Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We have developed a smart hair‐repair ingredient based on β‐carboxylic acid amide that undergoes negative‐to‐positive charge conversion under mildly acidic conditions. The initial negative charge facilitates deep penetration into the hair fiber, while the subsequent positive charge enables re‐bonding with sulfonate groups in damaged hair keratin.

Core/shell-structured nickel/nitrogen-doped onion-like carbon nanocapsules with improved electromagnetic wave absorption properties

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2016
Core/shell-structured nickel/nitrogen-doped onion-like carbon (Ni/(C, N)) nanocapsules are synthesized by a modified arc-discharge method using N2 gas as the source of N atoms. Core/shell-structured Ni/C nanocapsules are also prepared for comparison. The

Low‐Temperature Fabrication of Thymosin β4‐Loaded Soluble Microneedles to Promote Wound Healing by Specific Binding to Downregulated Immune Regulators Vsig4 and IL22rɑ2

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Schematic diagram depicting the fabrication and application of thymosin β4 (Tβ4)‐loaded microneedle patches for wound treatment. The Tβ4 was loaded into chitosan (CS) and sucrose MNs under mild conditions (4°C, 65% relative humidity). The Tβ4 MN patch specifically binds to the downregulated immune regulators Vsig4 and IL22rα2, thereby accelerating ...
