Education between ethics and sciencie: new chellengues in late modernity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
No cabe duda que el tema de la ética está íntimamente conectado con el de la educación. La educación orientada hacia una ética creativa es estética en el sentido batesoniano del término: una educación que afina a la sensibilidad relacional constituye el ...

Edge binding of sine-Gordon solitons in spin-orbit coupled Bose-Einstein condensates

open access: yes, 2015
In recent experiments with ultracold gases a Raman coupling scheme is used to produce both spin-orbit (SO) and Zeeman-type couplings [Y.-J. Lin et al., Nature 471, 83 (2011)]. Their competition drives a phase transition to a magnetized state with broken $

Large magnetic anisotropy in Ferrihydrite nanoparticles synthesized from reverse micelles

open access: yes, 2006
Six-line ferrihydrite(FH) nanoparticles have been synthesized in the core of reverse micelles, used as nanoreactors to obtain average particle sizes $$ $\approx$ 2 to 4 nm.

Synthetic Beuys: on nano-materials and the aesthetics of imperceptibility [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Aquest treball centra l'atenció sobre la paradoxal naturalesa dels nanoobjectes i analitza la relació entre una matèria imperceptible (massa petita per ser percebuda pels sentits) i les seves formes de manifestació ostensibles.

Size Effects of TiO2 Nanoparticles as Supports for W‐ and NiW‐Catalysts for Selective 3‐Methylthiophene Desulfurization

open access: yesChemCatChem, EarlyView.
Rounded TiO2 nanoparticles we sucesfully synthesized with modulated sizes from 109 to 22 nm. We observed the WS2 and NiWS active phases forming parallel slabs to the surface. The presence of Ni helped W to be better dispersed, especially on the smallest nanoparticles, which resulted in the highest activity detected among the series.

Pressure effects in PrT2B2C (T = Co, Ni, Pt): Applied and chemical pressure

open access: yes, 2010
High-pressure electrical resistivity, r(T), measurements on intermetallic Pr(Co, Ni, Pt)2B2C compounds were performed down to 2K. At room pressure the r(T) in a-b direction curves for the non superconducting Pr(Co, Ni)2B2C compounds exhibit magnetic ...

Glutathione Threshold‐Triggered Selective Breakability of Organosilica Nanocapsules

open access: yesChemCatChem, EarlyView.
Replacing tetraethoxy orthosilicate (TEOS) by tetramethoxy orthosilicate (TMOS) as silica precursor to synthesize cleavable organosilica nanocapsules enabled the effective and selective entrapment of a positively charged protein as Cytochrome C (CytC) and a much more favorable breakability and kinetics release when exposed to high glutathione (GSH ...

Large perpendicular magnetic anisotropy in magnetostrictive Fe$_{1-x}$Ga$_x$ thin films

open access: yes, 2015
In this work we report the appearence of a large perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) in Fe$_{1-x}$Ga$_x$ thin films grown onto ZnSe/GaAs(100). This arising anisotropy is related to the tetragonal metastable phase in as-grown samples recently reported
