2D semiconducting -N=N- and -N=CH-linked 1,5-dioxocine: DFT study of the polymer bulks, bilayers, and single layers

open access: yesNext Materials
DFT study on the structural and electronic properties of the 2D π-conjugated poly -N=N- and -N=CH-linked 1,5-dioxocine and the planar van der Waals AA- and AB-stacked bulks and bilayers thereof is presented. According to electronic structure calculations

Tunable room-temperature ferromagnet using an iron-oxide and graphene oxide nanocomposite

open access: yes, 2015
Magnetic materials have found wide application ranging from electronics and memories to medicine. Essential to these advances is the control of the magnetic order. To date, most room-temperature applications have a fixed magnetic moment whose orientation

Unravelling the Secret of Sulfur Confinement and High Sulfur Utilization in Hybrid Sulfur‐Carbons

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Thermal condensation of inverse vulcanized sulfur‐carbon hybrids enables a bottom‐up sulfur confinement strategy, in which a protective carbon phase is progressively constructed around sulfur species. The resulting carbon nanodomains covalently tether sulfur chains and stabilize radical intermediates. This integrated architecture effectively suppresses

Fabrication and Excellent Dielectric Performance of Exfoliated Graphite Sheets [PDF]

open access: yesЖурнал нано- та електронної фізики, 2016
In the present investigation, exfoliated graphite sheets were obtained from the thermo-chemical treatment of natural graphite flakes. In this process, the graphite expands almost 300-350 times of its original volume and takes the shape of worms.

COFs on MOFs: Layer‐by‐Layer Synthesis of MOF@COF Nanoparticles with Synergistic Adsorption

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A layer‐by‐layer strategy enables the growth of crystalline covalent organic framework (COF) shells on metal–organic framework nanoparticles, creating core–shell structures with tunable porosity. Ordered interstitial mesopores are formed during shell growth, which are connected with the COF's intrinsic micropores, thereby enhancing water sorption. This

Structural, mechanical, and optoelectronic properties of siladiamanes – Novel hypothetical silicon analogs of diamanes: A combined DFT and DFTB study

open access: yesNext Materials
This work describes structural, mechanical, and optoelectronic properties of the AA- and AB-stacked siladiamanes. Siladiamanes are hypothetical silicon analogues of diamanes – semiconducting quasi 2D diamonds.

In Situ Amine Formation to Modulate MOF‐Derived PdIn N‐Doped Carbon Catalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An amine‐assisted approach converts PdIn‐MOF into PdIn intermetallic nanoparticles embedded in N‐doped carbon. In situ‐generated amines trigger early Pd nucleation, producing smaller PdIn domains than direct pyrolysis. Amine sterics and basicity tune composition and particle size, while solvent and amine co‐determine textural features.

Localized Temperature Monitoring in Mouse Brain during Light Delivery via a Non‐Planar Tapered Fiber‐Integrated µRTD Sensor

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We report a multifunctional tapered optical fiber integrating a conformal micro‐resistance temperature detector (µRTD) for local, real‐time thermometry during optical stimulation. The platform combines light‐delivery and temperature sensing within a minimally invasive footprint, enabling detection of sub‐degree cortical heating under representative ...
