On the growth mechanisms of nanoemulsions
Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2013The shelf stability of nanoemulsions made by ultrasound, phase inversion composition, and the Ouzo effect was studied using a range of hydrocarbons, as the model oils, and surfactants. The cube of the average drop radius of the nanoemulsions displayed a linear increase with time. Both Ostwald ripening and coalescence can exhibit such behaviour.

Structure of concentrated nanoemulsions
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2005We use extreme shear to create a dispersion of nanoscale droplets of silicone oil in an immiscible water phase containing an anionic surfactant sodium dodecylsulfate. Using centrifugal size fractionation, we obtain nanoemulsions having a well-defined average radius of a=75nm.

Surfactant Partitioning in Nanoemulsions
Langmuir, 2018Using a fractionated silicone oil-in-water nanoemulsion (NEM), which has a high ratio of surface area-to-volume, we investigate surfactant partitioning between the bulk continuous phase and the adsorbed interfacial phase. By adjusting the droplet volume fraction of this fractionated NEM and by using gravimetric and electrical conductivity methods, we ...

Expert Opinion on Drug Delivery, 2016
The efficacy of many hydrophobic bioactives (pharmaceuticals, supplements, and nutraceuticals) is limited due to their relatively low or highly variable bioavailability. Nanoemulsions consisting of small lipid droplets (r < 100 nm) dispersed in water can be designed to improve bioavailability. The major factors limiting the oral bioavailability of ...

Prostate cancer (PCa) is a global issue with increasing rise in morbidity and mortality. PCa treatment has been a global challenge for many years because drugs designed to combat this disease might show low efficacy as a result of low solubility. Limitations of chemo-drugs for treating PCa give birth to the use of nanomedicine which helps to improve ...

Due to transparency at high droplet volume fraction, improved bioavailability or diffusion levels and improved pharmaceutical shelf-life, nanoemulsions have the potential in pharmaceutical industries. Nanoemulsions are thermodynamically stable structures of colloidal dispersion consisting of two immiscible liquids combined with emulsifiers (surfactants
