Experimental characterization of fibre-reinforced composites improved with nanofibres or nanotubes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
A review is presented on the testing and mechanical properties of continuous fibre reinforced composites modified with nanotubes or nanofibres either dispersed in the resin or grown on the microfibres.

Unveiling S‐Scheme Bi2WO6@Black‐TiO2 Heterostructure for Superior Photoelectrocatalytic Water Remediation

open access: yesCleanMat, Volume 3, Issue 1, Page 4-15, March 2026.
Bi2WO6@Black‐TiO2 hierarchical heterogeneous architectures are prepared via a simple hydrothermal/solvothermal strategy. An S‐Scheme carrier transfer mechanism with a solid ability to induce long‐lived electrons and holes with strong redox properties was identified via in situ x‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy and time‐resolved photoluminescence ...

Age and Maturation Stage Linked Consequences of Fibrinogen on Human Oligodendroglia

open access: yesJournal of Neuroscience Research, Volume 104, Issue 3, March 2026.
This study shows that the blood‐derived molecule, Fibrinogen, has a differential effect on human Oligodendroglial (OL) cells. Fibrinogen, when added in vitro, leads to aberrant differentiation of OL‐precursors towards an astrocytic fate. On the other hand, when added into the culture of mature OLs, fibrinogen increases myelination capacity.

Interaction of laser-cooled $^{87}$Rb atoms with higher order modes of an optical nanofiber

open access: yes, 2014
Optical nanofibres are used to confine light to subwavelength regions and are very promising tools for the development of optical fibre-based quantum networks using cold, neutral atoms. To date, experimental studies on atoms near nanofibres have focussed

Polarisation control of linear dipole radiation using spin-momentum locking of light [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We experimentally demonstrate that a linear dipole is not restricted to emit linearly polarised light, provided it is embedded in the appropriate nanophotonic environment.

Viscoelastically prestressed polymeric matrix composites: An overview [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Elastically prestressed polymeric matrix composites exploit the principles of prestressed concrete, i.e. fibres are stretched elastically during matrix curing.

Functional polyaniline nanofibre mats for human adipose-derived stem cell proliferation and adhesion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Conductive polymer poly(aniline-co-m-aminobenzoic acid) (P(ANI-co-m-ABA)) and polyaniline (PANI) were blended with a biodegradable, biocompatible polymer, poly(l-lactic acid) and were electrospun into nanofibres to investigate their potential application

Immobilized photosensitizers for antimicrobial applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Photodynamic antimicrobial chemotherapy (PACT) is a very promising alternative to conventional antibiotics for the efficient inactivation of pathogenic microorganisms; this is due to the fact that it is virtually impossible for resistant strains to ...

Keratin-based Nanofibres

open access: yes, 2010
There's Plenty of Room at the Bottom" ? this was the title of the lecture Prof. Richard Feynman delivered at California Institute of Technology on December 29, 1959 at the American Physical Society meeting. He considered the possibility to manipulate matter on an atomic scale.

3-dimensional computer model of electrospinning multicapillary unit used for electrostatic field analysis

open access: yesOpen Physics, 2017
Electrospinning is an experimental method of the polymer super thin fibres formation using the electrostatic field. The distribution of electrostatic field affects the effectiveness of the electrospinning.
