Nanomechanical properties of dental resin-composites
Dental Materials, 2012To determine by nanoindentation the hardness and elastic modulus of resin-composites, including a series with systematically varied filler loading, plus other representative materials that fall into the categories of flowable, bulk-fill and conventional nano-hybrid types.Ten dental resin-composites: three flowable, three bulk-fill and four conventional

Nanomechanical properties of vimentin intermediate filament dimers
Nanotechnology, 2009The cell's cytoskeleton, providing the cell with structure and shape, consists of a complex array of structural proteins, including microtubules, microfilaments and intermediate filaments. Intermediate filaments play a crucial role in mechanotransduction and in providing mechanical stability to cells, in particular under large deformation. By utilizing

NANOMECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF EPOXY COMPOSITES WITH CARBON FILLERS
Physics, Chemistry and Applications of Nanostructures, 2013The key point of this study is investigation of nanomechanical properties of epoxy-based nanocomposites filled with different kinds of carbon nanofillers like exfoliated graphite, high surface-area carbon black, single-walled carbon nanotubes and multi-walled carbon ...

Nanomechanical Properties of Globular Proteins: Lactate Oxidase
Langmuir, 2007We report on the study of the nanomechanical properties of a lactate oxidase (LOx) monolayer immobilized on gold substrates by atomic force microscopy techniques operating under buffer conditions. Topographical contact mode imaging evidenced the protein deformation under the applied tip load.

Nanomechanical Properties of Hydrated Carious Human Dentin
Journal of Dental Research, 2001Most restorative materials are bonded to caries-affected dentin that has altered structure. We tested the hypothesis that hydrated dentin of the transparent zone did not have increased hardness or elastic modulus. Nanoindentation by modified AFM was used to determine site-specific elastic modulus and hardness for components of hydrated dentin from 8 ...

Nanomechanical properties of a Ni nanodot-patterned surface
Nanotechnology, 2008Nanomechanical properties of a Ni nanodot-patterned surface (NDPS) on a Si substrate were investigated using nanoindentation. The Ni NDPS was fabricated by thermal evaporation of Ni through a porous anodized aluminum oxide template onto a Si substrate. Plan-view transmission electron microscopy and nanobeam diffraction were used to characterize the Ni ...

Nanomechanical Properties of Brittle Matter
2001The paper focuses on inelastic deformation of brittle materials, quasicrystals in particular. It is shown, that quasicrystals exhibit the normal indentation size effect (ISE) at room temperature, and the inverse one at elevated temperatures. Load-depth-curves exhibit distinct discontinuities, and unloading hysteresis was observed.

Ultrastructure and nanomechanical properties of cementum dentin junction
Journal of Biomedical Materials Research Part A, 2003AbstractThe attachment between cementum and dentin has been given several definitions and nomenclature, including: interzonal layer, intermediate cementum, collagen hiatus, Hopewell‐Smith's hyaline layer, and more commonly, cementum–dentin junction (CDJ).

Effect of bracket bonding on nanomechanical properties of enamel
American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, 2010In this study, we investigated the nanohardness and elastic modulus of enamel after debonding metal brackets. The surfaces of 3 maxillary premolars were subdivided into 3 regions. Two regions were exposed to a conventional etching system (Transbond XT, 3M Unitek, Monrovia, Calif) and a self-etching system (Transbond Plus primer, 3M Unitek); the third ...

Study on Nanomechanical Properties of Dragonfly Wing
Advanced Materials Research, 2009The flight mechanics of dragonflies including hovering and taking off backwards, flight sideways and vertical directions has been attentions in Bionics. The dragonfly wing consists of the networks of various veins and membranes to make the structural properties complicated.
