Nanomechanical Properties of Cementitious Materials

2008
Nanomechanical Properties of Cementitious Materials Paramita Mondal Although cementitious construction materials are mainly used in a large scale and in huge quantities, fundamental properties such as strength, ductility, creep, shrinkage, and fracture behavior depend, to a great extent, on structural elements and phenomena which are effective at the ...

Nanomechanical properties of cellulose nanofibrils (CNF)

MRS Advances, 2015
Cellulose is an abundant green polymer, which can be obtained in a variety of nanoscale structures broadly grouped as nano/microfibrils (CNF/MFC), bacterial celluloses (BC) or nano/microcrystals (CNC/CMC).

Nanomechanical properties of molecular deposition film

Journal of Wuhan University of Technology-Mater. Sci. Ed., 2005
Two nanomechanical properties of the molecular deposition (MD) film deposited on the Au substrate were studied. The first is its nanotribological property investigated by an atomic force microscope, which indicates that the deposition of the MD film could reduce the frictional force.

Nanomechanical properties of hafnium nitride coating

Scripta Materialia, 2008
Nanomechanical properties of plasma-sprayed HfN coating with and without hot isostatic pressing (HIP) treatment were evaluated using nanoindentation. For HIPed HfN coating, the elastic modulus (E) and yield strength increase whereas the hardness (H), H/E ratio and fraction of the elastic work decrease.

Nanomechanical properties of polymer composite nanoclusters

Physical Mesomechanics, 2008
The paper contains results of quantum mechanical and molecular dynamics simulation of the structure, energy characteristics, and nanomechanical properties of nanoclusters of a “polymer matrix - carbon filler” composite medium. Quantum mechanical simulation is carried out in the framework of the cluster approach, in the approximation of microscopic ...

Direct Observation of Nanomechanical Properties of Chromatin in Living Cells

Nano Letters, 2007
Precise manipulation of nanometer-sized magnetic particles using magnetic tweezers has yielded insights into the rheology of the cell cytoplasm. We present first results using this approach to study the nanomechanics of the cell nucleus. Using a custom-designed micro-magnetic-tweezers instrument, we can achieve sufficiently high magnetic forces ...

Nanomechanical properties of hierarchical structures

2009
In this thesis bone and cartilage, as well as the interface between those two biological materials were investigated. An investigation of those two biological materials is interesting because of two reasons. On the one hand the obtained data can be added to a materials database, which then can be used as an inspiration for technical materials ...

Nanomechanical properties of boundary lubricating films

2006
First the nanomechanical properties of ZnDTP antiwear tribofilms were measured by nanoindentation at ambient temperature. As the tribofilms are very thin, the elastic properties of the substrate influence the measurements. A simple model was used to extract the elastic modulus of the ZnDTP tribofilm from the composite measured modulus.
