Nanomechanics of Microtubules [PDF]
We have determined the mechanical anisotropy of a single microtubule by simultaneously measuring the Young's and the shear moduli in vitro. This was achieved by elastically deforming the microtubule deposited on a substrate tailored by electron-beam lithography with a tip of an atomic force microscope.

Proposal for a Nanomechanical Qubit [PDF]
Mechanical oscillators have been demonstrated with very high quality factors over a wide range of frequencies. They also couple to a wide variety of fields and forces, making them ideal as sensors. The realization of a mechanically based quantum bit could therefore provide an important new platform for quantum computation and sensing.

Damping of Nanomechanical Resonators [PDF]
We study the transverse oscillatory modes of nanomechanical silicon nitride strings under high tensile stress as a function of geometry and mode index m <= 9. Reproducing all observed resonance frequencies with classical elastic theory we extract the relevant elastic constants.
