High Performance Durable Vanadium Dioxide Spectral Selective Modulation Smart Windows

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Crystallinity‐enhanced VO2 nanoparticles with a self‐limited amorphous oxidation shell achieve an order of magnitude durability improvement and high spectral selective modulation performance (luminous transmittance of 28.5%, solar modulation of 10.5%, and mid‐infrared emissivity modulation of 0.5) for smart windows.

Nanoparticles of transition metals oxides with application potential [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Tato práce se zabývá nejvíce používanými metodami přípravy a fyzikálními vlastnostmi nanočástic přechodných kovů. Fyzikální vlastnosti nanočástic mohou být kontrolovány pomocí velikosti a tvaru částic.

Using Mono-, Bi- and Tri-Metallic Nanoparticles to Improve Selectivity and Sensitivity of CMOS-Integrated SnO2 Thin-Film Gas Sensors

open access: yesProceedings
We demonstrate the systematic optimization of SnO2-based thin-film chemical sensors by using mono-, bi- and tri metallic nanoparticles (NPs) composed of Ag, Pd, and Ru, which are deposited via magnetron sputtering inert gas condensation.

Single‐Step Recovery of Water from Stable Crude Oil‐Water Emulsion Using Surface Engineered Hybrid Inorganic‐Polymer Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Atomic layer deposition is used to conformally surface engineer polymeric membranes to fabricate inorganic–organic hybrid membranes. These membranes have exceptionally strong attraction toward water even in high oil containing emulsions, which leads to an extremely strong hydration layer at the interface.

Use of magnetic nanoparticles to enhance biodesulfurization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Biodesulfurization (BDS) is an alternative to hydrodesulfurization (HDS) as a method to remove sulfur from crude oil. Dibenzothiophene (DBT) was chosen as a model compound for the forms of thiophenic sulfur found in fossil fuels; up to 70% of the sulfur ...

Motif Editing for Reaction Pathway Switching From Formate to CO in Single‐Atom Indium Catalysts via Adjacent Carbon Site Manipulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents manipulation of adjacent carbon site in single‐atom indium catalysts via editing In‐N4 motif to In‐N2O2 for reaction pathway switching. Incorporation of O atoms leads to significant electron enrichment on the adjacent carbon sites surrounding the In‐N2O2 motif, which facilitates *COOH adsorption and CO formation with high selectivity.

Electrostatic‐Attraction‐Driven Self‐Assembled Graphene‐Disordered Rocksalt Composite Cathode for Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A non‐aqueous, solution‐based graphene‐wrapping strategy is shown to stabilize disordered rocksalt LMTOF cathodes without structural degradation. The graphene‐wrapped cathode suppresses oxygen loss and parasitic interfacial reactions, lowers impedance growth, and delivers improved cycling stability and rate capability compared with conventional ball ...

Nanoparticles produced via laser ablation of microparticles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
textSeveral different nanoparticle synthesis techniques exist. One synthesis method uses the laser ablation of microparticles (LAM) entrained in an aerosol technique to produce charged nanoparticles.
