Plasmonic nature of van der Waals forces between nanoparticles [PDF]

open access: yesPlasmonics 4, 31-36 (2009), 2007
We propose a new approach to calculate van der Waals forces between nanoparticles where the van der Waals energy can be reduced to the energy of elementary surface plasmon oscillations in nanoparticles. The general theory is applied to describe the interaction between 2 metallic nanoparticles and between a nanoparticle and a perfectly conducting plane.

Site‐Specific Wetting of Iron Nanocubes by Gold Atoms in Gas‐Phase Synthesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2019
A key challenge in nanotechnology is the rational design of multicomponent materials that beat the properties of their elemental counterparts. At the same time, when considering the material composition of such hybrid nanostructures and the fabrication ...

Deep Learning Potential of Mean Force between Polymer Grafted Nanoparticles [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Grafting polymer chains on nanoparticles surfaces is a well-known route to control their self assembly and distribution in a polymer matrix. A wide variety of self assembled structures are achieved by changing the grafting patterns on an individual nanoparticle surface.

Forces between functionalized silica nanoparticles in solution

open access: yes, 2009
To prevent the flocculation and phase separation of nanoparticles in solution, nanoparticles are often functionalized with short chain surfactants. Here we present fully-atomistic molecular dynamics simulations which characterize how these functional ...

Three-body radiation dynamics in systems with anisotropic nanoparticles

open access: yes, 2015
The time evolution of temperatures of anisotropic nanoparticles in two and three-body systems are simulated for various relative orientations. Nanoparticles are immersed in a thermal bath at constant temperature. It is shown that in two-body systems, the

Evolution of structure of SiO2 nanoparticles upon cooling from the melt [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Evolution of structure of spherical SiO2 nanoparticles upon cooling from the melt has been investigated via molecular-dynamics (MD) simulations under non-periodic boundary conditions (NPBC).

New Insights Into the Role of Inflammation in the Brain in Heart Failure

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2022
Heart failure is a growing medical problem. Although the underlying aetiology of heart failure differs according to the phenotype, there are some common characteristics observed in patients with heart failure. These include an increased sympathetic nerve
