Microbial Genome Sequencing and Assembly Using Nanopore Sequencers

2023
Microbial genomes are typically several million base pairs in length and are relatively easy to sequence and assemble into a single chromosome, given the advances in long-read sequencing platforms such as that of Oxford Nanopore Technologies. This chapter describes the experimental as well as computational steps in the sequencing and assembly of ...

Advances in Nanopore Sequencing Technology

Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2013
Much tremendous break through have been obtained in recent years for nanopore sequencing to achieve the goal of $1000 genome. As a method of single molecule sequencing, nanopore sequencing can discriminate the individual molecules of the target DNA strand rapidly due to the current blockages by translocating the nucleotides through a nano-scale pore ...

Modeling Nanopores for Sequencing DNA

2011
Using nanopores to sequence DNA rapidly and at a low cost has the potential to radically transform the field of genomic research. However, despite all the exciting developments in the field, sequencing DNA using a nanopore has yet to be demonstrated. Among the many problems that hinder development of the nanopore sequencing methods is the inability of ...

Sequence reconstruction in nanopore sequencing

2019
This master thesis is about nanopore sequencing. In this method, a single-stranded DNA oligomer is pulled through a tiny pore. Electric current flows through the pore and is modulated to different degrees by the different bases contained therein. By measuring the current one can draw conclusions on the DNA sequence.

The Current State of Nanopore Sequencing

2023
Nanopore sensing is a disruptive, revolutionary way in which to sequence nucleic acids, including both native DNA and RNA molecules. First commercialized with the MinIONTM sequencer from Oxford Nanopore TechnologiesTM in 2015, this review article looks at the current state of nanopore sequencing as of June 2022.
