Nanoporous Alumina Membranes as Diffusion Controlling Systems
Advanced Functional Materials, 2004AbstractThis work describes the use of nanoporous alumina membranes for the diffusion of crystal violet molecules, encapsulated in the micelles of sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS), through pores ranging between 20 and 200 nm in diameter. The encapsulation of the crystal violet in SDS micelles is necessary in order to enlarge the size of the molecules to ...

Nanoporous alumina-based interferometric transducers ennobled
Nanoscale, 2011A high fidelity interferometric transducer is designed based on platinum-coated nanoporous alumina films. The ultrathin metal coating significantly improves fidelity of the interferometric fringe patterns in aqueous solution and increases the signal-to-noise ratio. The performance of this transducer is tested with respect to refractive index unit (RIU)

Adsorption Hysteresis in Self-Ordered Nanoporous Alumina
Langmuir, 2008We performed systematic adsorption studies using self-ordered nanoporous anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) in an extended range of mean pore diameters and with different pore topologies. These matrices were characterized by straight cylindrical pores having a narrow pore size distribution and no interconnections.

Normal incidence birefringence in nanoporous alumina
Optical Materials, 2021Abstract There are many works and interests focused on the development of optical sensors based on porous anodic aluminum oxide membranes (AAO). Normal incidence birefringence (BR) is present in AAO when is obtained from a monocrystalline aluminum substrate but his effect has been largely ignored since it is canceled out in a poly-crystalline ...

Applications of nanoporous alumina membranes
2001 International Semiconductor Conference. CAS 2001 Proceedings (Cat. No.01TH8547), 2002Nanoporous alumina membranes were electrochemically prepared in sulfuric or phosphoric acid. After preparation they were used for microfiltration of biological media, such as human red blood cells and bovine serum albumin. The filtration efficiency was studied by UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy.

Materials in nanoporous alumina
Journal of Materials Chemistry, 2002Nanoporous alumina membranes are easily available by controlled anodization of aluminium surfaces in aqueous acids. Their properties, such as optical transparency, temperature stability, and pores of variable widths and lengths, make them a unique material to be filled by optically or magnetically interesting elements and compounds on the nanoscale ...

Nanoporous Alumina Membranes for Enhancing Hemodialysis
Journal of Medical Devices, 2006The nonuniformity of pore size and pore distribution of the current hemodialysis membrane results in low efficiency of uremic solute removal as well as the loss of albumin. By using nanotechnology, an anodic alumina membrane (ceramic membrane) with self-organized nanopore structure was produced.

Nanoporous alumina films for display devices
SPIE Proceedings, 2008Anisotropic optical properties of free nanoporous anodic alumina films transparent in the visible spectrum for the restricted range of pore diameters and pore intervals are discussed. The basic experimental procedure is presented for the production of these films.
