Instrumented Microindentation of Nanoporous Alumina Films
Journal of Engineering Materials and Technology, 2005We examine the mechanical behavior of anodic alumina thin films with organized nanometer-scale porosity. The cylindrical pores in the alumina film are arranged perpendicular to the film thickness in a near-perfect triangular lattice. The films used in this work had pore diameters ranging from 35 to 75nm, and volume fractions ranging from 10% to 45 ...

Sulfur Concentration in Nanoporous Alumina Membrane
Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry, 2003Nanoporous alumina membrane prepared by anodic oxidation using sulfuric acid electrolyte was subjected to TG-DTA and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS or ESCA) to further study the distribution of sulfur. In XPS study, Ar+ ion bombardment was performed on the sample to etch the surface at a rate of 3 nm min-1.

Photoluminescent Enzymatic Sensor Based on Nanoporous Anodic Alumina
ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, 2012Herein, we present a smart enzymatic sensor based on nanoporous anodic alumina (NAA) and its photoluminescence (PL) in the UV-visible range. The as-produced structure of NAA is functionalized and activated in order to perform the enzyme immobilization in a controlled manner.

Kinetics of Ice Nucleation Confined in Nanoporous Alumina
The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2015The nucleation mechanism of water (heterogeneous/homogeneous) can be regulated by confinement within nanoporous alumina. The kinetics of ice nucleation is studied in confinement by employing dielectric permittivity as a probe. Both heterogeneous and homogeneous nucleation, obtained at low and high undercooling, respectively, are stochastic in nature ...

Ionic transport across tailored nanoporous anodic alumina membranes
Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2012Highly ordered Nanoporous Alumina Membranes (NPAMs) with a precise control of the pore size and different porosity but thickness around 63 μm were fabricated by the two-step anodization process using different acidic aqueous solutions, oxalic (Al-Ox), sulfuric (Al-Sf), and phosphoric (Al-Ph) acids, respectively. The pore size was controlled by properly

Nanopatterning by ion implantation through nanoporous alumina masks
Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2013The important problem of how to generate lateral order for ion implantation patterning of substrates is solved by using a nanoporous anodic alumina membrane as a mask. Co and Pt implantation is used at two implantation doses. In order to observe the achieved implantation zones free from artifacts, electron transparent thin nitride and oxide films are ...

Dynamics of Ice/Water Confined in Nanoporous Alumina
The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2015Dielectric (DS), IR spectroscopy, and (1)H MAS NMR are employed in the study of ice/water confined in nanoporous alumina with pore diameters ranging from 400 nm down to 25 nm. Within nanoporous alumina there is a transformation from heterogeneous nucleation of hexagonal ice in the larger pores to homogeneous nucleation of cubic ice in the smaller pores.

Nanoporous Anodic Alumina for Optofluidic Applications
2015The dynamics of liquid imbibition in nanoporous anodic alumina (NAA) has been recently studied by using the integration of optics and microfluidics. Here the latest results on the subject are revised, and some perspectives for using NAA in optofluidics applications are considered, notably the characterization of the membranes itself.

Polishing methods for formation nanoporous anodized alumina
2023In the manufacture of the porous anodic aluminum oxide (PAAO) matrix, its quality and structural perfection primarily depend on the quality of the surface. The technological scheme for obtaining highly organized porous aluminum oxide includes preliminary preparation of the foil surface of A9 alloy with an aluminum content of 99.91% by electrolytic ...
