Millikelvin Intracellular Nanothermometry with Nanodiamonds

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 45, December 4, 2025.
Nanothermometry in living cells is crucial for understanding heat diffusion and advancing cellular biology and drug discovery. Previous studies have reported controversial intracellular temperature variations. Using nanodiamond nanothermometry in macrophages, it is found that, in such experimental setting, apparent temperature changes are actually due ...

Design, analysis and control of a fast nanopositioning stage

open access: yes2008 IEEE/ASME International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics, 2008
We present a fast flexure-based, piezoelectric stack-actuated XY nanopositioning stage which is suitable for high-speed, accurate nanoscale positioning applications. The performance of the design are analyzed using finite-element-analysis software. Experiments demonstrate that the design has a high first resonant mode at 2.7 kHz, a low cross-coupling ...

Rotating Gold Nanomotors for High‐Resolution Mapping of Subcellular Nanomotions

open access: yesSmall Methods, Volume 9, Issue 12, December 1, 2025.
A nanomotor‐based method uses optically driven, rotating gold nanorods to detect nanometer‐scale cellular movements with 10 nm spatial and millisecond temporal resolution. Applied to live endothelial cells, the technique reveals subcellular mechanical activity and distinct frequency regimes, capturing transient, localized oscillations.

Current-cycle iterative learning control for high-precision position tracking of piezoelectric actuator system via active disturbance rejection control for hysteresis compensation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
As a typical smart structure, piezoelectric actuator (PEA) is an essential constituent component in piezoelectric-driven positioning stages. Nevertheless, the positioning precision is severely degraded by its innate rate-dependent hysteretic nonlinearity.

Standalone Integrated Magnonic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 40, October 9, 2025.
A standalone (not requiring external bias magnetic field) and tunable magnonic device is reported with all‐electric input and output, fully integrated on silicon (total footprint of 100 × 150 µm) and 3–8 GHz frequency band. This is achieved by monolithic integration of a CoFeB conduit with RF antennas and an assembly of NiFe and SmCo micromagnets ...

Fpga-based control of piezoelectric actuators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In many industrial applications like semiconductor production and optical inspection systems, the availability of positioning systems capable to follow trajectory paths in the range of several centimetres, featuring at the same time a nanometre-range ...

Polarization‐Controlled Strong Light–Matter Interaction With Templated Molecular Aggregates

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 13, Issue 28, October 2, 2025.
Graphene nanoribbons act as a template for brick‐shaped organic semiconductor molecules. The templating results in optoelectronic properties resembling those of a single crystal. The templated layer supports optical transitions with well‐oriented transition dipole moments.

Analysis and design of rapid prototyped mechanisms using hybrid flexural pivots [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The ability of fabricating flexure based mechanism is of great importance in modern technology fields such as nanotechnology and precision engineering. For an instance, a great number of nanopositioning systems are made out of flexures. Examples of these
