Spectrally Selective Bipolar Self‐Powered Opto‐Synaptic Responses in Tandem 2D van Der Waals Ferroelectric Heterojunctions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Tandem 2D vdW ferroelectric heterojunctions enable spectrally selective, self‐powered bipolar opto‐synaptic responses for retinal ON/OFF bipolar cell emulation and wavelength‐programmable logic operations. This work establishes vdW ferroelectric heterojunctions as a compelling materials platform for energy‐efficient, adaptive, and human‐like artificial

Development of Optical-Based Molecularly Imprinted Nanosensors for Adenosine Detection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Adenosine nucleoside is an important molecule in human physiology. The levels of adenosine nucleoside in urine and plasma are directly or indirectly related to diseases such as neurodegenerative diseases and cancer.

DUNI: A Portable Smartphone-Coupled Integrating Sphere for Controlled Illumination and Reliable Colorimetric Sensing: Analytical Applications

open access: yesSensors
The use of smartphones as analytical instruments is becoming increasingly widespread due to their ease of use and low cost. However, it has limitations, such as dependence on the smartphone’s sensor, the light source and the environment, which hinders ...

The Optical Property of Core-Shell Nanosensors and Detection of Atrazine Based on Localized Surface Plasmon Resonance (LSPR) Sensing

open access: yesSensors, 2014
Three different nanosensors with core-shell structures were fabricated by molecular self-assembly and evaporation techniques. Such closely packed nanoparticles exhibit fine optical properties which are useful for biochemical sensing. The refractive index

Engineering Nanoplatforms for Alzheimer's Disease Detection via Biomolecular Corona Proteomic and Lipidomic Profiling

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Engineered nanoparticles capture disease‐specific biomolecular coronas that uncover hidden molecular features of Alzheimer's disease. Combined proteomic and lipidomic analyses reveal a characteristic shift in ribosomal machinery and energy metabolism, generating a multiomic fingerprint that supports accurate disease detection and opens new ...

In Vivo Histamine Optical Nanosensors [PDF]

open access: yesSensors, 2012
In this communication we discuss the development of ionophore based nanosensors for the detection and monitoring of histamine levels in vivo. This approach is based on the use of an amine-reactive, broad spectrum ionophore which is capable of recognizing and binding to histamine.

Resolving the Structural Duality of Graphene Grain Boundaries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Cantilever ncAFM resolves the atomic structure of grain boundaries in graphene, revealing coexisting stable and metastable types. Both contain pentagon/heptagon defects, but metastable GBs show irregular geometries. Modeling shows metastable GBs form under compression, exhibiting vertical corrugation, while stable GBs are flat.

Weak In‐Plane Ferromagnetism and Electronic Nematicity in the Distorted Triple‐Q Magnetic Phase of Co1/3TaS2

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Co1/3TaS2${\rm Co}_{1/3}{\rm TaS}_{2}$ hosts a triple‐Q noncoplanar antiferromagnetic state with coexisting Z3${\rm Z}_3$ electronic nematicity. We report rotational hysteresis observed in both magnetoresistance and magnetic torque, revealing strongly pinned in‐plane weak ferromagnetic moments in the triple‐Q phase and the magnetism‐driven nature of ...

Rapid nanoparticle-mediated monitoring of bacterial metabolic activity and assessment of antimicrobial susceptibility in blood with magnetic relaxation. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2008
Considering the increased incidence of bacterial infections and the emergence of multidrug resistant bacteria at the global level, we designed superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles as nanosensors for the assessment of antimicrobial susceptibility ...

Ratiometric Mycotoxin Detection in Living Plants With Dual‐Emissive Nanosensors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A minimally invasive microneedle patch integrates carbon dot‐embedded metal–organic frameworks as nanosensors to detect a key fungal toxin in living plants. The nanosensor produces a ratiometric fluorescence signal that enables early, non‐destructive diagnosis of fungal infection before visible symptoms, offering a new biomaterials‐based strategy for ...
