Evaluation of the Impact and Fracture Toughness of a Nanostructured Bainitic Steel with Low Retained Austenite Content. [PDF]
The impact and fracture toughness of a nanostructured, kinetically activated bainitic steel was determined using Standard methods. Prior to testing, the steel was quenched in oil and aged naturally for a period of 10 days in order to obtain a fully ...

On the role of microstructure in governing the fatigue behaviour of nanostructured bainitic steels [PDF]
© 2015 Elsevier B.V. Nanostructured bainite is not a novel laboratory-scale steel anymore and the interest on the commercial production of these microstructures by steelmakers and end-users is now conceivable. These microstructures are achieved through the isothermal transformation of high-carbon high-silicon steels at low temperature, leading to ...

Characterisation and Development of Nanostructured, Ultrahigh Strength, and Ductile Bainitic Steels
The purpose of the present work was to characterise and further develop a novel nanostructured type of bainitic steel. Three chemical compositions were considered with different concentrations of Al and Co. The addition of Al and Co is believed to be necessary to produce the desired nanostructure at very low temperatures within a reasonable ...

Rolling Contact Fatigue Performances of Carburized and High-C Nanostructured Bainitic Steels. [PDF]
In the present work, the nanostructured bainitic microstructures were obtained at the surfaces of a carburized steel and a high-C steel. The rolling contact fatigue (RCF) performances of the two alloy steels with the same volume fraction of undissolved ...

In this article, Franceschi et al. study a newly developed medium carbon high silicon carbide free baintic steel. The effect of different is isothermal transformation temperature on the bainitic microstructure is investigated in terms of phase constituents, morphology and mechanical properties. It is observed that the isothermal treatments below 300 °C

Herein, the recrystallization behavior of a low‐alloyed steel and a Nb−Ti microalloyed steel with a C content of 0.23 wt% is dealt with. The results show that the annealing temperature prior to the rolling process is decisive for the recrystallization behavior of the microalloyed steel.

Recent Progress on Wear‐Resistant Materials: Designs, Properties, and Applications
This paper provides a comprehensive review of the recent progress on structural designs, properties, and applications of wear‐resistant materials. Surface engineering and matrix strengthening strategies for the development of such materials are analyzed and relationships between their wear resistance and other mechanical properties are discussed.
