An overview on bainite formation in steels
Current Opinion in Solid State and Materials Science, 2005The present report makes an attempt to review some studies by Chinese researchers on bainite in steel from the viewpoint of thermodynamics, kinetics, crystallography, microstructure, mechanism, etc. Due to the complexity of bainite transformation in steels, the extensive disagreement between the diffusion school and the shear school on bainite ...

Strengthening mechanisms in bainitic steels
Acta Metallurgica, 1971Abstract An investigation has been made of the microstructures and mechanical properties of a series of 1%Cr-0.5 %Mo-0.002%B base steels following isothermal transformation to structures of the granular, upper and lower bainite types. The results indicate that in granular bainites the strength is raised above the base level of the matrix by the ...

Annealing of a Nanostructured Bainitic Steel
Metallography, Microstructure, and Analysis, 2020Abstract This article describes a procedure for optimizing the annealed microstructure of a high Al KAB steel. The main focus is directed toward characterization of microstructural development during annealing of different phases in a nanostructured bainitic steel using high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). This entry

Wear behavior of bainitic steels
Wear, 1987Abstract A systematic study of the wear properties of a series of 0.5 wt.% Mo, 0.003 wt.% B bainitic steels has been made under dry sliding conditions. In contrast to most of the established wear models and experimental data, it was found that, for eight of the nine materials, the wear rate is not a linear function of load.

Bainitic Steels, their Characteristics and Applications
Key Engineering Materials, 2016Abstract. Excellent combination of mechanical properties makes bainitic steels very attractive for commercial application. The most potential benefit of bainitic steels is found in the lightweight design of car bodies. The chemical composition, productions process and the austenite state control the properties of those steels.

The mechanism of bainite formation in steels
Acta Metallurgica, 1980Abstract New microstructural evidence, together with a thermodynamic analysis, of the bainite reaction in steels are presented in support of a growth mechanism involving the propagation of displacive sub-units. The results are shown to be consistent with a displacive mechanism, rather than with one involving reconstructive growth. It is also possible

In this study, nano bainitic steels examined which were developed recent years with respect to detailed literature survey. Researches are increasingly continuing related to transformation of austenite to bainite in Fe-C alloys. In the presented study, chemical compositions, production, microstructures and mechanical properties of nano bainitic steels ...

High Performance Bainitic Steels
Materials Science Forum, 2005The choreography of atoms during the course of the bainite transformation has major consequences on the development of structure. In particular, the scale and extent of the structure is dependent directly on the fact that the atoms move in a disciplined fashion.

New bainitic steels for forgings
Archives of Civil and Mechanical Engineering, 2012Steels with a bainitic microstructure offer great possibilities for highly stressed forged components. The variety of different bainitic morphologies requests for an aligned thermal treatment after forging in order to achieve the maximum performance.

Aspect ratio of bainite in steels
Materials Letters, 2000The aspect ratios of bainitic plates formed in 10 experimental alloys have been statistically analyzed. The results, based on the measurements of 129 individual plates, show that the aspect ratio of bainite is less than 0.25, and generally less than 0.1, with the most frequent value around 0.025 and a theoretical minimum value of 0.008.
