Recrystallization in Nanostructured Austenitic Stainless Steel

Materials Science Forum, 2008
Recrystallization and grain growth were studied in an austenitic stainless steel 316LVM processed by hydrostatic extrusion (HE) to a total true strain of 2. HE processing produces in this material the microstructure which consists of nanoscale twins on average 19 nm in width and 168 nm in length.

Nanostructured Steel Industrialization - A plausible reality

2013
A lecture given by Carlos-Garcia Meteo, at the Adventures in the Physical Metallurgy of Steels (APMS) conference held in Cambridge University. Here he talks about the industrial production of two components from the world's first bulk nanostructured material, the so-called superbainite.

Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured M50 Steel

MRS Proceedings, 1995
AbstractThe synthesis of nanostructured multicomponent (Fe-Mo-Cr-V-C) M50 type steel has been carried out by two chemical routes: the sonochemical decomposition of organometallic precursors and the co-reduction of the respective metal halides. Both methods produce amorphous nanopowders, but the co-reduction method requires an additional heat treatment ...

Toughness variations in nanostructured bainitic steels

Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2012
Abstract Outstanding combination of strength and ductility in nanostructured bainitic steels makes them prone to be used as an important engineering material. However, there is still a necessity to investigate their toughness and effective parameters. This work aims to study the fracture toughness of these group of high strength carbide free bainitic

Copper Effect on Micro- and Nanostructures of Steels

Materials Science Forum
Mechanical tests and electron microscopic structural studies of low-carbon copper-steels quenched after austenitization and tempered at different temperatures are carried out to clarify the decomposition mechanism of α-Fe based substitution solid solutions.

Nanostructured bainitic steels with carbide precipitations - a new steel class

2020
Recent work [1] on the tempering behaviour of nanostructured bainite has demonstrated the particularly interesting tempering resistance of this microstructure. Tempering of high Si nanostructured bainite at an adequate temperature will not destroy it´s unique nanostructure on the contrary supersaturated and metastable phase will tend to equilibrium und
