Sectoral Co-Movement, Monetary-Policy Shock, and Input-Output Structure [PDF]
The co-movement of output across the sector producing non- durables (that is, non-durable goods and services) and the sector producing durables is well-established in the monetary business-cycle literature.

The visible and invisible drivers of biocultural loss in the Amazon
Abstract The Amazon is rapidly approaching an ecological tipping point driven by deforestation, forest degradation and global climate change. These are visible issues that receive increasing political and public attention. However, the accelerating biocultural loss in the Amazon, including the extinction of Indigenous languages, the disruption of ...

Skilful seasonal predictions for the European energy industry
We assess the utility of seasonal forecasts for the energy industry by showing how recently-established predictability of the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) in winter allows predictability of near-surface wind speed and air temperature and therefore ...

Abstract Biological invasions are a major driver of biodiversity loss, yet inconspicuous or “cryptic” species often escape detection and public awareness, limiting management responses. We investigated the freshwater jellyfish Craspedacusta sowerbii, likely native to China and now present on six continents, through a 22‐month multilingual online survey

Tropical forests are rapidly declining. One promising strategy to reverse the loss of tropical forest is the establishment of agroforestry on open land. We combined interviews with biodiversity surveys to learn general lessons from success and nonsuccess stories of the establishment of open‐land‐derived coffee agroforests in one of the world's ...

THE RELATION OF NORTH ATLANTIC OSCILLATION(NAO) AND ENSO WITH PRECIPITATION IN THE SOUTHERN SHORES OF CASPIAN SEA [PDF]
The present study investigated the impacts of NAO and ENSO on the precipitation in the southern shores of Caspian Sea. The accumulated monthly and annual rainfalls from 5 synoptic stations during the years (1956-2017) were taken through Islamic Republic ...

Windows of opportunity in subseasonal weather regime forecasting: A statistical–dynamical approach
This study explores how the atmospheric state at initialisation creates windows of opportunity for improving week 3 forecasts of weather regime activity. Greenland blocking activity increases following Madden–Julian Oscillation phases 7, 8, and 1 and weak stratospheric polar vortex states, revealing patterns exploitable by statistical models.
