Proceedings of the 2014 ACM/IEEE international conference on Human-robot interaction, 2014
ALIZ-E is a Europe-wide project focusing on long-term child-robot interaction, specifically as a means of educating diabetic children on their condition. This video showcases a recent field study at "SugarKidsClub", a camp devoted to helping 7-12 year-olds handle type-1 diabetes.

Climate impacts of the NAO are sensitive to how the NAO is defined
Theoretical and Applied Climatology, 2014We analyze the sensitivity of the effects the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) exerts on surface temperature and precipitation in Europe to the definition of the NAO index. Seven different NAO indices are examined: two based on station sea level pressure (SLP) data, two based on action centers, and three based on correlation/covariance structures ...

MINIMIZING STOCHASTICITY IN THE NAO INDEX
International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2007We show that the monthly North Atlantic Oscillation index routinely used in climatology as an indicator for global climate variability is not an optimal choice. A critical Markov analysis of the two pressure time-series for both, monthly and daily NAO index, indicates that the monthly index, due to its low sampling rate, contains higher stochastic ...

This paper deals with composite events in active databases. It describes the syntax and semantics of NAOS composite event expressions. This semantics is based on the semantics of the proposed operators and on the notions of context of detection and validity interval These notions are central especially for event types containing negations and strict ...

Metric Localisation for the NAO Robot
2021We present a metric localisation approach for the NAO robot based on the methodology of depth estimation using optical flow in a frame-to-frame basis. We propose to convert optical flow into a 2-channel image from which images patches of \(60\times 60\) are extracted.

Radiological findings in NAO syndrome
Pediatric Radiology, 2002Diseases exhibiting osteolysis in children are rare hereditary conditions. Several types have been recognised with different clinical manifestations. One type includes subcutaneous nodules, arthropathy and osteolysis and has been termed NAO syndrome. Previous radiological reports have described the affected bones, usually the carpal and tarsal regions,
