Kinetic studies of the enzyme were carried out in the presence of the fluorescent dye 8-anilino-1-naphthalenesulfonate (1,8-ANS). 1,8-ANS was competitive with ATP and an uncompetitive inhibitor with respect to fructose-6- P .

Chemosphere, 1987Scenedesmus obliquus is capable to utilise various naphthalenesulfonic acids, including disulfonic acids, as sources of sulfur. After precultivation in sulfate medium, the adaptation to the naphthalene sulfonates was followed, and the growth rate of the adapted algae was determined.

Photo-induced dimerization of 1-anilino-8-naphthalenesulfonate
Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology A: Chemistry, 1992Abstract 1-Anilino-8-naphthalenesulfonate (ANS) was observed to undergo a number of photochemical processes, including ionization, dimerization and loss of sulfonate. A mechanism that involves monophotonic ionization is proposed for the photo-induced dimerization of ANS.
