A simple and efficient method have been described for the synthesis of 12-aryl-8,9,10,12-tetrahydrobenzo[a]xanthen-11-one derivatives employing a one-pot, three-component reaction of aryl aldehydes, 2-naphthol and dimedone in the presence of ...

Why add another catalyst when the product itself holds the power to catalyze its own formation? Autocatalysis in synthetic chemistry enhances reaction efficiency and uncovers novel catalytic behavior across both closed‐shell and open‐shell systems, expanding reactivity and enabling innovative design strategies.

Microbial desulphonation and naphthol formation from 2-naphthalenesulphonic acid. [PDF]
Under sulphate limitation, axenic batch cultures of strain RMNTand the mixed culture Co 27 isolated from sulphurous springs metabolize 2-naphthalenesulphonic acid (2NS) and use sulphonate as a source of sulphur.

Synthesis of Benzopyran Atropisomers via Electrophilic Halogenation
We report a halogenation‐based method for the synthesis of axially chiral benzopyrans, tolerating diverse substituents and halogens (Br, Cl, and I). A double bromination gives bisbenzopyrans with two stereogenic axes. Preliminary enantioselective conditions yield benzopyran atropisomer with up to 56% ee.

Polysilane‐Supported Nickel as an Efficient Catalyst for the Hydrogenation of Aromatic Compounds†
A Ni/Si catalyst obtained from the reaction of poly(monohydro)silane with Ni(cod)2 serves as an effective heterogeneous catalyst for the hydrogenation of arenes under reaction conditions that are significantly milder than those required for conventional nickel‐based catalysts such as Raney nickel.

Green syntheses of 2-naphthol-based oxapolycycles [PDF]
A review of one‐step cyclization reactions on 2‐naphthol is described in a comprehensive manner, organized by reaction type/class. This is significant, as the following work deals with one‐step cyclizations on a 2‐naphthol framework.

TOXICITY AND LC50 DETERMINATION OF PHENOL AND 1-NAPHTOL IN CASPIAN KUTUM AND BREAM FINGERLINGS
In this investigation acute toxicity of phenol and 1-naphthol were determined based on OECD guideline in the laboratory. Experimental fishes were Caspian kutum (Rutilus frisii kutum) and bream (Abramis brama orientalis).

Aminoferrocene‐based prodrugs represent a promising class of redox‐active anticancer agents that can be selectively activated in oxidative cellular environments. However, activation of these systems typically relies on reactive oxygen species (ROS) and is therefore inefficient in intracellular compartments with low ROS levels, such as the cytoplasm. In
