Synthesis of 5,8-Dihydroxy-2-methoxy-1,4-naphthoquinone Derivatives. A Major Naphthoquinone Moiety of Some of Naphthoquinone Antibiotics [PDF]
Abstract 6-Formyl- and 6-hydroxymethyl-5,8-dihydroxy-2-methoxy-1,4-naphthoquinones were, respectively, prepared from 2-formyl- and 2-hydroxymethyl-1,4,5,6,8-pentamethoxynaphthalenes which were synthesized as key intermediates of the new antibiotics containing 2-methoxynaphthazarin structure.

Dietary polyphenols and phytochemicals suppress NF‐κB signaling. Mechanistically, by inhibiting IκBα degradation and preventing nuclear translocation of p65/p50 complexes, the polyphenols reduce the expression of pro‐inflammatory and pro‐survival genes, thereby decreasing overall cancer cell survival.

A new route to naphtho[2,3-b]furan-4,9-diones from thio-substituted 1,4-naphthoquinones [PDF]
Reaction of 2-phenylthio- or 2-ethylthio-1,4-naphthoquinones (1) and (2) with lithium enolates or pyridinium ylides was found to give alkylated 1,4-naphthoquinones (3)-(6) in high yields.

Reaction Mechanisms of H2S Oxidation by Naphthoquinones
1,4-naphthoquinones (NQs) catalytically oxidize H2S to per- and polysufides and sulfoxides, reduce oxygen to superoxide and hydrogen peroxide, and can form NQ-SH adducts through Michael addition.

Natural Products as Modulators of ABC Transporters in Breast Cancer
ABSTRACT Breast cancer remains a significant global health challenge, with high incidence and mortality rates despite advancements in early detection and treatment. Multidrug resistance (MDR), particularly in aggressive subtypes like triple‐negative breast cancer (TNBC), continues to hinder effective therapy.
