Napiergrass genotypes and plant parts for biomass energy
Twenty Pennisetum genotypes were evaluated at Gainesville, FL, USA, in 1987 for biomass as an alternative energy source via bioconversion to methane. The genetic lines included napiergrass and interspecific hybrids (triploid and hexaploid) between pearl millet and napiergrass.

Identification of Cultured and Diazotrophic Bacterial Endophytes in Warm-Season Grasses
Endophytes can have positive effects on plant health and growth, but endophytes of warm-season grasses are largely understudied, and inocula are rarely applied to cultivated grasses.

Napiergrass: Biology and Control in Sugarcane
Napiergrass (Pennisetum purpureum Schumacher) is an enormous, weedy, cane-like grass (Figure 1) commonly seen growing along canals and roadsides in the sugarcane production area of south Florida. Napiergrass, also known as elephantgrass, has been documented in almost 30 counties throughout Florida.

Belowground Carbon Dynamics in Tropical Perennial C4 Grass Agroecosystems
Effective soil management is critical to achieving climate change mitigation in plant-based renewable energy systems, yet limitations exist in our understanding of dynamic belowground responses to the cultivation of energy crops. To better understand the

Effects of delayed winter harvest on biomass yield and quality of napiergrass and energycane [PDF]
Abstract Napiergrass ( Cenchrus purpureus (Schumach.) Morrone) and energycane ( Saccharum hyb.) are perennial grasses that are well-suited for biomass production in the southeastern USA. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of delayed winter harvest on biomass yield and quality of these grasses.
