P450 goes peroxide: When one base just isn’t basic enough. Engineering a second basic residue into CYP199A4T252E boosts its peroxygenase activity but also makes it sensitive to H2O2. The double mutant F182R/T252E shows increased turnover before rapidly self‐destructing, revealing the fine balance between productive peroxide activation and oxidative ...

Fetal Pain Perception: Legislative Assertions and Developmental Neuroscience
ABSTRACT Background Pain perception is a conscious experience, but neither pain nor consciousness is defined in the developing human fetus. Emergent consciousness may be regarded as a phenomenon that ultimately arises from an essential minimum of functional neuronal connectivity. Proposed U.S.

Poly(sarcosine) Lipid Synthesis From CO2‐Based Sarcosine‐N‐Carboxyanhydride
In this work, we optimize and scale‐up a CO2‐based synthesis of sarcosine‐N‐carboxyanhydride (Sar‐NCA) to the gram scale. The low toxicity and simplicity of the approach make it an attractive alternative to current toxic phosgene‐based approaches. The CO2‐based Sar‐NCA has sufficient purity for controlled polymerization.
