From Single Atoms to Nanoparticles: Pathways Toward Efficient and Durable Pt/TiO2 Photocatalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Platinum single atoms on TiO2 nanosheets evolve into clusters and nanoparticles under ethanol photoreforming and thermal treatments. By controlling deposition and post‐treatments, particle size and location on specific facets are modulated. The study reveals how stability pathways determine efficiency, guiding the design of more durable photocatalysts.

Scalable Polyelectrolyte Complex‐Based Sorbent With Hourly Sorption−Desorption Cycles for Multicyclic Atmospheric Water Harvesting in Arid Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A polyelectrolyte complex‐based sorbent is produced by scalable, environmentally benign aqueous phase inversion. Its porous, LiCl‐ and GO‐integrated architecture enables hourly adsorption−desorption cycles at low relative humidity (RH < 30%). A large‐scale prototype achieves multicyclic, solar‐driven atmospheric water harvesting of 1.37 L kg−1 day−1 ...

The Stag Without a Heart [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The Stag Without a Heart explores the potential of the perpetual film loop and the complexities of the narrative drive. It was the outcome of an AHRC-funded Practice-led and Applied Research Project Award (2009–10).

Nanothermometry in Living Cells: Physical Limits, Conceptual and Material Challenges

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Heat and temperature are fundamental to life. When nanothermometers began probing regions as small as a living cell, they triggered controversial claims of large intracellular temperature gradients. We review physical constraints energy‐conservation, entropy production, thermodynamic fluctuations, and molecular dynamics.

Reflexivity in Narratives on Practice

open access: yes, 2016
Previous research has shown how reflexivity is a precondition for knowledge co-production through productive dialogue in organisational contexts because it entails a re-ordering, re-arranging and re-designing of what one knows and therefore creates new angles of vision.

Balancing Electrons to Break the Activity‐Selectivity Trade‐Off in H2O2 Electrosynthesis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Carrier‐concentration balancing in CuS is achieved by coupling cobalt dopants with cobalt vacancies, converting CuS from p‐ to n‐type to accelerate 2e− ORR while withdrawing excess carriers to optimize *OOH binding for H2O2 desorption. The catalyst reaches 8.14 mol g−1 h−1 with >84% selectivity in 1.0 M KOH and drives robust electro‐Fenton dye ...

Solvent‐Free Manufacturing of Multifunctional Gas Diffusion Electrode Architectures for Enhanced CO2 Conversion From Low‐Concentration Streams

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A tandem gas diffusion electrode (GDE) leveraging hierarchically engineered microgranules enables efficient CO2 electroreduction under dilute CO2 conditions. A key innovation lies in the solvent‐free precision assembly of metal–organic‐frameworks, carbon nanotubes, and copper nanoparticles.

Approved or disregarded? Exploring arenas for narrative relations in geriatric care

open access: yesInternational Journal of Qualitative Studies on Health & Well-Being
Purpose The use of narration in healthcare has been accentuated as a response to the requested shift towards person-centred care. The notion of narrative relations refers to a process of involving several people in mutual and ongoing narrative exchange ...
