A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Black phosphorus: narrow gap, wide applications

open access: yes, 2015
The recent isolation of atomically thin black phosphorus by mechanical exfoliation of bulk layered crystals has triggered an unprecedented interest, even higher than that raised by the first works on graphene and other two-dimensional, in the nanoscience

Narrow boolean algebras

open access: yesAnnals of Pure and Applied Logic, 1985
Let \(\kappa\) be the cofinality of \(2^{\aleph_ 0}\). There exists a Boolean algebra B of cardinality \(\kappa\) with the property that every subset of B of size \(\kappa\) contains two elements a and b such that ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Decreased cold‐sensing function of the transient receptor potential channel TRPM8 from tailed amphibians

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Despite frogs avoiding low temperatures, examination of four salamander species revealed that none avoided cold and all possessed cold tolerance. Functional analysis of TRPM8, a cold sensor, showed that all salamander TRPM8s had lost their cold sensitivity.

RISK MANAGEMENT OF USE DRUGS WITH NARROW THERAPEUTIC INDEX IN CLINICAL PRACTICE. Review

open access: yesМедична наука України, 2019
Relevance. Today, the pharmacotherapy of many diseases is significantly expanded. However, the amount of pathological conditions associated with the use of drugs has increased.

Photovoltaic effect for narrow-gap Mott insulators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We discuss the photovoltaic effect at a p-n heterojunction, in which the illuminated side is a doped Mott insulator, using the simplest description of a Mott insulator within the Hubbard model.

Digital twins to accelerate target identification and drug development for immune‐mediated disorders

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Digital twins integrate patient‐derived molecular and clinical data into personalised computational models that simulate disease mechanisms. They enable rapid identification and validation of therapeutic targets, prediction of drug responses, and prioritisation of candidate interventions.
