Narrow linewidth fibre laser sources [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
Laser sources based on rare-earth-doped single-mode optical fibres offer considerable potential as narrow-linewidth sources. Fibre laser sources have the capacity to produce highly-coherent, low-noise output, pumped by laser diodes. Fibre lasers are inherently compatible with optical fibres for transmission and sensing applications.

Theory of linewidth narrowing in Fano lasers [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2022
We present a general theory for the coherence of Fano lasers based on a bound state in the continuum. We find that such lasers enable orders of magnitude reduction of the quantum-limited linewidth, and by introducing mirror symmetry breaking, the linewidth can be further reduced.

The Influence of Noise Floor on the Measurement of Laser Linewidth Using Short-Delay-Length Self-Heterodyne/Homodyne Techniques

open access: yesMicromachines, 2022
Delayed self-heterodyne/homodyne measurements based on an unbalanced interferometer are the most used methods for measuring the linewidth of narrow-linewidth lasers.

Study on external cavity diode laser with a wide mode-hopping free tuning range

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2022
A wide mode-hopping free and narrow linewidth tunable laser diode source with a Littman-Metcalf arrangement based on a diffraction grating is presented. Several experiments are carried out to demonstrate the tuning characteristics and spectral linewidth ...

A Sub-kHz Narrow-Linewidth, and Hundred-mW High-Output-Power Silicon-Based Er Silicate Laser With Hybrid Pump and Signal Co-Resonant Cavity

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2020
Narrow-linewidth silicon-based lasersplay an important role in the field of silicon photonics. In this paper, we have proposed a high performance narrow-linewidth silicon-based Er silicate laser, based on strip-loaded DFB waveguide with a hybrid pump and

High-power single-frequency pulsed fiber MOPA via SPM suppression based on a triangular pulse

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2021
In this work, we demonstrate a high-power single-frequency nanosecond fiber master oscillator power amplifier (MOPA) at 1 μm with near transform-limited narrow spectral linewidth.

Narrow-linewidth tin-vacancy centers in a diamond waveguide [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Integrating solid-state quantum emitters with photonic circuits is essential for realizing large-scale quantum photonic processors. Negatively charged tin-vacancy (SnV$^-$) centers in diamond have emerged as promising candidates for quantum emitters ...
