Describing the Flow Curve of Shear-Banding Fluids Through a Structural Minimal Model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Main characteristics of colloidal systems that develop fluid phases with different mechanical properties, namely shear-banding fluids, are briefly reviewed both from experimental and theoretical (modelling) point of view. A non-monotonic shear stress vs.

Morphotropic Phase Boundary in Graft Poly(Vinylidene Fluoride‐co‐Tetrafluoroethylene) With High Curie Temperature

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The first TrFE‐free ferroelectric polymers exhibiting concurrently a morphotropic phase boundary and high Curie temperature are reported through a grafting strategy, which is completely different from previous methods to design MPB by composition and irradiation. This finding offers a cost‐effective solution to decode the long‐standing inverse relation

Bioinspired Morphology‐Decoupled Soft Gripper with Enhanced Bidirectional Grasping Capability

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inspired by biological predation, a novel gripper decouples cross‐modal grasping via dual morphological configurations. Synergistically integrating hybrid rigid and soft coupled fingers with a metamaterial palm, the system performs active compliant grasping for static objects and passive cage capture for dynamic targets.

Vasovagal attack during anterior nasal packing in patients with epistaxis

open access: yesInternational Archives of Otorhinolaryngology, 2008
Introduction: The incident of fainting during nasal packing to manage epistaxis is not so uncommon. Objective: To observe the effect of anterior nasal packing on blood pressure and heart rate, during the management of epistaxis.

Blood to the Bone: Epistaxis Leading to Osteomyelitis

open access: yesCase Reports in Medicine
Apixaban is a direct Factor Xa inhibitor that has been increasingly prescribed, particularly for stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation. While safer than warfarin, it still carries bleeding risks, including epistaxis, which is commonly managed with ...

Tualang Honey-impregnated Nasal Pack in Endoscopic Sinus Surgery Reduces Post-operative Inflammation and Bacterial Growth

open access: yesB-ENT
Background: To compare the efficacy of nasal packing using nasopore impregnated with tualang honey (THP) in middle meatal packing to contralateral saline-impregnated nasal packing (SP) in endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS).

Posterior epistaxis: endonasal exposure and occlusion of the branches of the sphenopalatine artery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Intractable posterior epistaxis (PE) is a frequent emergency for which different treatment modalities are available. While nasal packing causes extreme discomfort and angiography with consecutive selective embolization is not available everywhere, recent

Giant Conductivity Modulation and Chemical Neuromodulation via Proton‐Electron Coupling in a Hydrogen‐Bonded Coordination Polymer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A “de‐doping” strategy positions mixed protonic–electronic conductors (MPECs) as adaptive neuromorphic platforms with dynamically tunable transport. Co‐BAND achieves giant conductivity modulation (>106) and chemically tunable synaptic plasticity. Analogous to biological neuromodulation, solvent vapors dynamically reprogram the device's learning rules ...
