Clinical effect of surgical correction for nasal pathology on the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to evaluate the hypothesis that relief of nasal obstruction in subjects with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) would lead to reduce OSA severity and to discuss the available evidence on the clinical efficacy of nasal surgery as a

Long-Term Evaluation of Nasal Septoplasty Followed by Inferior Turbinate Cauterization for the Treatment of Nasal Obstruction using Objective and Subjective Methods

open access: yesInternational Archives of Otorhinolaryngology, 2018
Introduction Nasal septoplasty is considered the treatment of choice for nasal obstruction due to septal deviation. An ongoing discussion among rhinologists is whether it is reasonable to perform objective measurements of nasal patency pre or ...

What is the Impact of Positive Airway Pressure in Nasal Polyposis? An Experimental Study

open access: yesInternational Archives of Otorhinolaryngology, 2019
Introduction It has been hypothesized that increasing the interstitial hydrostatic pressure within the sinonasal mucosa of patients with nasal polyposis (NP) might decrease the size of nasal polyps.

Additively Manufactured Geometry‐Reconfigurable Soft Neural Probes With Monolithic Multifunctionality

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A geometry‐reconfigured additive manufacturing strategy converts planar printed soft materials into soft compact neural probes with integrated hydrogel electrodes and microfluidic channels. The resulting NeuroMAP platform enables scalable multichannel recording, localized chemical delivery, stable in vivo electrophysiological recording, and reduced ...

Thickness‐Defined Transport Regime Toward Near‐Ideal Area‐Type Switching

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
By thinning the oxide layer, memristors pass from diode‐like and battery‐effect‐dominated behavior toward eventual short‐circuit failure. Within the intermediate 5–6 nm window, they reach a near‐ideal analog area‐type switching regime, featuring symmetric hysteresis, area‐dependent conductance, and continuous linear programming of HRS and LRS with ...

Effects of posture change on nasal patency

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Otorhinolaryngology, 2005
Nasal obstruction when lying down frequently brings patients to the otolaryngologic clinic. There are several explanations for the problem. The nasal mucosa reaction to venous changes that alter local blood flow, secondary to compression of the neck veins or hydrostatic pressures, is the most accepted explanation.

High Energy Photon Induced Defect Engineering in Ultra‐Thin Indium Oxide Transistors for BEOL‐Compatible Logic Circuits

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Xenon flash lamp annealing modulates oxygen‐vacancy states in 1‐nm‐thick ALD In2O3 transistors within a single 139 µs pulse. The photon‐induced defect engineering shifts the threshold voltage, improves bias‐stress stability, and narrows device‐to‐device variation across 64 devices. Combining pristine and treated transistors yields NMOS inverters with a

A State‐Adaptive Koopman Control Framework for Real‐Time Deformable Tool Manipulation in Robotic Environmental Swabbing

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This work presents a state‐adaptive Koopman linear quadratic regulator framework for real‐time manipulation of a deformable swab tool in robotic environmental sampling. By combining Koopman linearization, tactile sensing, and centroid‐based force regulation, the system maintains stable contact forces and high coverage across flat and inclined surfaces.
