The Peak Flow Nasal Patency Index
The peak flow nasal patency index (NPI) is the ratio between the nasal and oral peak airflow. This index was found to be a good indicator of nasal patency present in 24 patients following septoplasty and indicated significant improvement postoperatively.

Continuum Robots in Surgery: From Engineering Design to Clinical Practice
The hyper‐redundant nature of continuum robot structures enables near‐infinite degrees of freedom leading to immense potential for medical applications. This review provides a historical background of continuum robots and novel ideas shaping their progress to current structural design, sensing technology, modeling techniques, and control methods.

Use of nasal flowmeter to measure nasal patency.
We determined nasal peak flow using a peak flowmeter with a face mask (PALROD peak expiratory flowmeter) and nasal airway patency with an anterior rhinomanometer (Nihon Koden MPR-1100) at a minimum time interval in the same individual. We compared the values obtained by two kinds of measurements to evaluate the usefulness of the peak flowmeter for ...

A Transnasal Endoscope for Robotically Assisted Gastroscopy
This work introduces a 4.25 mm diameter magnetically navigated transnasal endoscope for upper gastrointestinal (GI) screening and intervention. The system enables precise remote steering throughout the upper GI tract and is demonstrated through in vitro and in vivo experiments, including the robotic execution of preprogrammed retroflexions, trans ...

Rhinomanometry and acoustic rhinometry in rhinoplasty
Acoustic rhinometry (AR) and rhinomanometry (RMM) study two different parameters of nasal ventilation: respiratory function and the anatomy of nasal cavities. This article looks at their usefulness, in particular in the surgical field. We list the normal

Mometasone furoate is not superior to saline for chronic rhinitis in the elderly
Introduction: Prevalence of diseases associated with ageing is rising; among these are the rhinologic problems. Chronic rhinitis appears as one of the most common worrisome nasal disorders in this age group. At the same time, the allergic form diminishes

Glaucoma, a major cause of blindness, involves retinal ganglion cell (RGC) degeneration. This study shows growth hormone‐releasing hormone receptor (GHRHR) deficiency preserves RGC survival and restores vision, unlike activation which only aids survival.

Early Retinal UCHL1 Dysregulation Coupled With Synaptic Loss Reflects Alzheimer's Disease Severity
This study identifies synapse‐enriched deubiquitinase UCHL1 as an early Aβ‐responsive regulator of retinal synaptopathy in Alzheimer's disease. Retinal UCHL1 loss accompanies excitatory synapse degeneration, p75NTR activation, and neuroinflammation, and predicts Braak stage and cognitive decline. Aβ42 fibrils trigger synaptic and UCHL1 depletion before

Comparison of Odiosoft-Rhino and rhinomanometry in evaluation of nasal patency
Objective: To conduct a preliminary study testing the validity of the Odiosoft-Rhino (OR) in the evaluation of nasal patency in patients with nasal septal deviation and compare the results with visual analogue score ( VAS) of nasal obstruction and ...
