Remission in Global Airway Diseases: EUFOREA Consensus Paper

ABSTRACT The therapeutic goal in chronic airway diseases is shifting from symptom control to disease remission. Disease‐modifying therapies, including biologics and allergen immunotherapy, have made remission achievable in patients with severe asthma, chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP), or allergic rhinitis (AR).

Clinical Features of Cellular Senescence Pathways in Severe Asthma

In bronchial biopsies, SASP and p53 pathway enrichment scores are elevated in severe asthma versus non‐severe asthma and healthy controls. SASP enrichment is validated in the independent NOVA cohort. SASP enrichment is also elevated in nasal brushings of participants with nasal polyps, independently of asthma status.

There is a tight intersection between asthma, deprivation, ethnicity, multimorbidity and poor clinical outcomes. An integrated, holistic and culturally tailored approach is needed to improve clinical outcomes amongst ethnic minority groups with asthma and multimorbidity.
