A schwannoma in the nasal septum
European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, 2007Schwannomas of the sinonasal tract are very rare neoplasms. We present the case of a schwannoma developing in the nasal septum. The patient was a 51-year-old woman with the complaint of unilateral nasal obstruction. We completely removed this tumor by an endoscopic approach. We discuss the clinical presentation, differential diagnosis, and treatment of

A modification of the 'maxilla-premaxilla' approach for nasal septum surgery is described. With this modification the mucosal elevation in the area of the two inferior tunnels is performed from above along the crests of the vomer, maxillary and premaxillary bones, instead of from below through the undermined base of the nose as in the 'maxilla ...

Haemangiopericytoma of the nasal septum
The Journal of Laryngology & Otology, 1988AbstractHaemangiopericytoma is a rare vascular tumour originating from pericytes which are cells surrounding the capillaries. Long-term results after septoplasty are not satisfactory. Apart from a recurrence of deviation, there are various reasons for this: false preoperative analysis, complete straightening of the septum, and a disturbed nasal cycle. Preoperative functional diagnostics with a combination of rhinoresistometry, acoustic rhinometry, and long-term rhinoflowmetry

LEUCOPLAKIA OF THE NASAL SEPTUM
Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1956AT A RECENT meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology I made a round of all publishers' booths, reviewing the subject of leucoplakia in all books on otolaryngology. A new chisel for nasal septum osteotomy in craniofacial surgery is reported. With the aid of a guide wire, the cranial base is completely protected from inadvertent penetration. The direction of osteotomy can be changed because of the chisel's central fenestration, even if placed incorrectly at the beginning.
