Downregulation of plasma MiR-142-3p and MiR-26a-5p in patients with colorectal carcinoma [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Background: Colorectal cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers and cancer- related death worldwide. Identification of new specific biomarkers could be helpful to detection of this malignancy.

Joint modeling of longitudinal health-related quality of life during concurrent chemoradiotherapy period and long-term survival among patients with advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma

open access: yesRadiation Oncology
Background To investigate the prognosis of longitudinal health-related quality of life (HRQOL) during concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) on survival outcomes in patients with advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC).

FLI1 regulates radiotherapy resistance in nasopharyngeal carcinoma through TIE1-mediated PI3K/AKT signaling pathway

open access: yesJournal of Translational Medicine, 2023
Background Radiotherapy resistance is the main cause of treatment failure in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), which leads to poor prognosis. It is urgent to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying radiotherapy resistance.

MicroRNAs in nasopharyngeal carcinoma

open access: yesChinese Journal of Cancer, 2014
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) provide insight into both the biology and clinical behavior of many human cancers, including nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). The dysregulation of miRNAs in NPC results in a variety of tumor-promoting effects. Furthermore, several miRNAs are prognostic markers for NPC.

Review of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma [PDF]

open access: yesEar, Nose & Throat Journal, 2006
We review the literature on nasopharyngeal carcinoma that has been published within the past 5 years. Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is a highly morbid disease, and survival is poor. Its management remains extremely difficult, not just for otolaryngologists but for radiation oncologists and medical oncologists, as well. A clear understanding of its etiology

Harnessing the Biological Responses Induced by Nanomaterials for Enhanced Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAggregate, EarlyView.
Nanomaterial (NM)‐induced toxicity can be strategically repurposed for cancer therapy. This review summarizes the mechanism by which NMs selectively activate specific cellular processes to regulate cell fate independently. We also discussed how NMs‐induced biological responses can be leveraged as therapeutic strategies for cancer treatment.

Age-dependent changes of gender disparities in nasopharyngeal carcinoma survival

open access: yesBiology of Sex Differences, 2021
Background The mortality of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is usually lower in females than in males, but the underlying mechanism remains largely unknown. We sought to describe the age-dependent patterns of gender disparities in NPC survival and explore

Classification and Segmentation of Mucus Morphology Using Deep Learning During Diagnostic Nasal Endoscopy

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
Summary A pretrained deep learning model can segment and classify mucus morphologies encountered during nasal endoscopy. Strong performance for different mucus morphologies supports the detection of sinonasal inflammation. This is the first study to objectively classify mucus morphology in nasal settings.

Radiation induced lichen planus - an uncommon side effect [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Cutaneous lichen planus is classically characterized by violaceous, pruritic, planar papules and plaques, most commonly affecting the extremities. Lichen planus following radiation therapy is extremely rare and lichen planus following radiation therapy ...

Exosomes promote pre-metastatic niche formation in ovarian cancer. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Ovarian cancer is one of the most common gynecological malignancies. Upon initial diagnosis, the majority of patients present with widespread metastatic growth within the peritoneal cavity. This metastatic growth occurs in stages, with the formation of a
