On a world-wide basis, most National Parks cater for some blend of wildlife conservation, landscape protection and public recreation. In Britain, however, greater emphasis is given to scenic amenity and recreation than to wildlife conservation. The British Parks are also atypical in that the land within them remains largely in private ownership.
