WTAP drives cartilage regeneration by activating an LRP1‐dependent lipid metabolic program in macrophages, enhancing IL‐10 and TGF‐β secretion to promote chondrogenic differentiation. Leveraging this mechanism, virtual screening identifies LRP1‐targeting compounds that effectively stimulate cartilage repair, highlighting a druggable epigenetic ...

Civilian popliteal artery injuries : a ten year audit in an urban trauma centre
The aim of this study is to identify factors associated with limb loss in patients with popliteal artery injuries. Retrospective chart review of a prospectively collected data base of all patients with popliteal artery injuries presenting to the Groote ...

The Trauma and Injury Severity Score (TRISS) is the current “gold” standard of screening patient’s condition for purposes of predicting survival probability. More than 40 years of TRISS practice revealed a number of problems, particularly, 1) unexplained

Prevalence of brachial plexus injuries in patients with scapular fractures: a national trauma data Bank review [PDF]
S capular fractures comprise 3% to 5% of all shoulder girdle fractures, while accounting for <1% of all fractures (1). Fracture of the scapula usually occurs after high-energy trauma; thus, approximately 90% of patients have concomitant injuries (2,3).

A Catalytic Osmium Redox Couple Collapses Cancer Redox Balance
A stable Os(III)/Os(IV) redox couple is developed to disrupt the tumor cell redox balance by concurrently catalyzing ROS generation and GSH depletion. Osmium‐treated cells exhibit multiple cell death pathways, including apoptosis, ferroptosis, and immunogenic cell death.

Trauma and Injury Severity Score (TRISS) coefficients 2009 revision
BACKGROUND: Currently used Trauma and Injury Severity Score (TRISS) coefficients, which measure probability of survival (PS), were derived from the Major Trauma Outcome Study (MTOS) in 1995 and are now unlikely to be optimal.

IGF2BP1‐mediated m6A stabilization sustains SMC1A expression, enabling cohesin‐associated chromatin regulation of Nestin in hepatocellular carcinoma. This work reveals an epitranscriptomic‐chromatin‐cytoskeletal regulatory axis linked to malignant phenotypes and identifies SMC1A as a biologically relevant vulnerability in HCC.

Comparing regression-adjusted mortality to standardized mortality ratios for trauma center profiling
Background: Trauma center profiling is commonly performed with Standardized Mortality Ratios (SMRs). However, comparison of SMRs across trauma centers with different case mix can induce confounding leading to biased trauma center ranks.

Ciclopirox Olamine Inhibits the NLRP3 Inflammasome to Alleviate Inflammatory Diseases
There is no drug targeting the NLRP3 inflammasome that has been approved for use in clinical settings. Ciclopirox olamine (CPX), an antifungal agent approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is identified as a specific and potent NLRP3 inflammasome inhibitor. CPX targets the NACHT domain of NLRP3 at Y381 to impair NLRP3 oligomerization and

This study uncovers that quercetin naturally targets mitochondria. By coordinating quercetin with Fe3+, we engineer an ultrasmall cascade nanozyme (MCN) with superoxide dismutase‐catalase activities. MCN crosses the damaged blood–brain barrier, scavenges mitochondrial ROS, prevents mitochondrial DNA leakage, and blocks the cGAS‐STING pathway, thereby ...
