Bulletin of Economic Research, EarlyView.ABSTRACT Standard theories of mandated benefits predict that policies such as parental leave affect wages mainly through employer costs. This paper shows that job‐protected parental leave can also change firms' wage‐setting power. In a monopsony framework, the labor supply facing a firm depends on the composition of worker separations.

Foreign ownership and transferring of gender norms
Canadian Journal of Economics/Revue canadienne d'économique, EarlyView.Abstract In this paper, we study foreign ownership as a vehicle for transferring gender norms across international borders. Using detailed matched employer‐employee data from Sweden, we analyze how the within‐firm gender pay gap is affected by the degree of gender inequality in the home country of foreign investors.
