NATURAL DURABILITY OF THREE WOOD SPECIES IN FIELD TESTS

open access: yesCiência Florestal, 2010
This work aimed to evaluate the natural durability of heartwood and sapwood of Luhea divaricata, Carya illinoinensis and Platanus x acerifolia. Test samples measuring 2.5 x 2.5 x 30.0 cm (radial x tangential x longitudinal) were placed in a pine forest ...

Pyramidal Structures on Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia after High Temperature Exposure at 1500°C: New Features on an Old Material

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...

Performance Analysis of Abradable Coating Systems for Aircraft Gas Turbines

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Three CoNiCrAlY/YSZ/MgAl2O4 abradable liner configurations on a nickel‐superalloy are evaluated by thermal‐gradient cycling and incursion tests. Laser ablation of the bondcoat and/or Y2O3‐stabilized ZrO2 (YSZ) intermediate layer increases mechanical interlocking and bonding for thick topcoats.

Effect of nanoclay on durability and mechanical properties of flax fabric reinforced geopolymer composites

open access: yesJournal of Asian Ceramic Societies, 2017
The main concern of using natural fibres as reinforcement in geopolymer composites is the durability of the fibres. Geopolymers are alkaline in nature because of the alkaline solution that is required for activating the geopolymer reaction.

Durability evaluation of natural-durable wood species by a fungus cellar test

open access: yesWood Preservation, 2006
