The heteropteran mitochondrial transcription termination factor (HmTTF) functions as a bidirectional attenuator rather than a terminator, and co‐evolution of HmTTF and the binding sites was observed.

Iflaviruses in arthropods: when small is mighty
Insect Science, EarlyView.Many arthropod species harbor iflaviruses, which often cause covert (asymptomatic) infections, but may still affect host fitness. We review the impact of iflaviruses on arthropod fitness, immunity, behaviour as well as the iflavirus’ host range, transmission, tissue tropism and the interactions with other microorganisms within arthropods.

Insect Science, EarlyView.The release of gravid Exochomus quadripustulatus females proved to be effective in containing Toumeyella parvicornis infestations on stone pine trees, under open‐field condition. The ladybugs caused a lower infestation level compared to the trees that did not receive any ladybugs during the observation season.

Insect Science, EarlyView.The mutualism between Tapinoma ibericum ants and Aphis gossypii disrupts the biological control exerted by Aphidius colemani in greenhouse peppers. Ant exclusion increased parasitism and the presence of most natural enemies, although Aphidoletes aphidimyza was more abundant with ants.

Reduced fertilization regimes could boost biocontrol service without reducing crop yield
Insect Science, EarlyView.Fertilization level influences pest control effectiveness in tomato crops. High fertilization increases plant growth and aphid density but reduces the performance of the parasitoid Aphidius ervi. In contrast, the predator Adalia bipunctata maintains consistent aphid suppression regardless of fertilization regime.

Insect Science, EarlyView.In this study, we examined whether realistic ozone concentrations can interfere with sexual communication in the insect pest Plutella xylostella, the diamondback moth. Ozone exposure caused a degradation of pheromone components, leading to significant changes in blend composition and component ratios.
