Natural Real Exponential Families with Cubic Variance Functions
Pursuing the classification initiated by Morris (1982), we describe all the natural exponential families on the real line such that the variance is a polynomial function of the mean with degree less than or equal to 3. We get twelve different types; the first six appear in the fundamental paper by Morris (1982); most of the other six appear as ...

Families of generalized Kloosterman sums [PDF]
We construct p-adic relative cohomology for a family of toric exponential sums which generalize the classical Kloosterman sums. Under natural hypotheses such as quasi-homogeneity and nondegeneracy, this cohomology is acyclic except in the top dimension ...

Minimum Rates of Approximate Sufficient Statistics
Given a sufficient statistic for a parametric family of distributions, one can estimate the parameter without access to the data. However, the memory or code size for storing the sufficient statistic may nonetheless still be prohibitive.

Cinnamic‐hydroxamic‐acid derivatives (CHADs) are identified as novel inhibitors of the bacterial nucleoid‐associated protein HU, exhibiting potent antibacterial, anti‐biofilm (both inhibition and eradication), and DNA relaxation (anti‐supercoiling) activities. Moreover, CHADs demonstrate strong synergistic effects with multiple antibiotics.

BioE is a new diiron oxygenase that catalyzes the conversion of long‐chain acyl groups into pimeloyl thioester, initiating biotin synthesis. The overexpression of EmBioE disrupts lipid metabolic homeostasis, requiring repressor BioL to maintain a balance between long‐chain fatty acids and biotin synthesis.

This study reveals that XBP1s drives production of circTspan3, a circular RNA that strengthens cartilage by boosting anabolic activity and limiting cell death. Phosphorylated ANXA2 directs circTspan3 into exosomes, enabling paracrine repair. Exosomal circTspan3 expands growth‐plate cartilage and promotes in vivo regeneration, highlighting its promise ...

Laplace's rule of succession in information geometry
Laplace's "add-one" rule of succession modifies the observed frequencies in a sequence of heads and tails by adding one to the observed counts. This improves prediction by avoiding zero probabilities and corresponds to a uniform Bayesian prior on the ...

This study demonstrates that polyC‐RNA‐binding protein 1 (PCBP1) in ventral hippocampal astrocytes modulates depressive‐like behaviors by regulating glutathione peroxidase 4‐mediated ferroptosis and synaptic glutamatergic transmission. PCBP1 overexpression intervention in the chronic unpredictable mild stress model rescues behavioral deficits ...

Investigating the nature of prokaryotic genomic island locations within a genome.
Horizontal gene transfer (HGT) is a powerful evolutionary force that considerably shapes the structure of prokaryotic genomes and is associated with genomic islands (GIs).
