A comparison of the economic and environmental performances of conventional and organic farming: evidence from financial statements [PDF]

open access: yes
While conventional farming systems face serious problems of sustainability, organic agriculture is seen as a more environmentally friendly system since it favours renewable resources, recycles nutrients, uses the environment’s own systems for controlling

Discovery of H2 Receptor Antagonists as Colistin Enhancers by Targeting Acid Stress Response

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies YqgB as a key target for restoring colistin susceptibility in mcr‐positive pathogens under acidic conditions by remodeling phospholipid composition and reducing LPS modification. Deep learning‐based screening reveals H2 receptor antagonists as novel colistin adjuvants. Further investigations indicate that ranitidine and famotidine

Sulfakinin Signaling Sense Circulating Fructose and Suppresses Food Consumption via Insulin‐Like Peptide in Bactrocera Dorsalis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study discovered a new pathway that tells fruit flies when to stop eating. It found that rising blood sugar (fructose) is detected by a sensor called GR43a. This triggers a chain reaction involving the satiety signal sulfakinin and its receptor, ultimately activating a final satiety signal, ILP5.

pH/ROS‐Responsive Injectable Hydrogel Co‐Loaded with B7‐H3 Blocker and NETs Suppressor Boosts OSCC Synergistic Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A pH/ROS‐dual‐responsive injectable hydrogel, formed by dynamic boronic ester and Schiff base crosslinking, co‐delivers enoblituzumab (B7‐H3 blocker) and Cl‐amidine (NETs suppressor). Via localized intratumoral delivery, it synergistically reprograms the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment, overcomes T cell infiltration barriers, restores ...

SR‐B1‐Mediated Transplacental Transfer of Hydrophobic Toxicants Disrupts Fetal Development During Barriergenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study maps the spatiotemporal distribution of hydrophobic toxicants and endogenous metabolites in the developing placenta and fetus. By integrating mass spectrometry imaging with snRNA‐seq, we identify SR‐B1 as a key transporter driving early‐gestation xenobiotic transfer and reveal a critical exposure window associated with persistent fetal ...

An Increasing Misalignment Between Crop Distribution and Environmental Resources Under Climate Change in China

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Climate change reshapes the spatial alignment between crop production and environmental resources. Using multi‐source data and a crop model, integrated climatic, water, and soil endowments for maize and wheat are quantified and compared with harvest distributions.

Is environmentally-friendly agriculture less profitable for farmers ? evidence on integrated pest management in Bangladesh [PDF]

open access: yes
Concerns about the sustainability of conventional agriculture have prompted widespread introduction of integrated pest management (IPM), an ecologically-based approach to control of harmful insects and weeds.
