CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

Bio-control potentials of Vachellia nilotica-derived silver nanoparticle against multidrug-resistant Staphylococcus haemolyticus strains from raw milk

open access: yesDiscover Materials
The global rise in multidrug-resistant (MDR) microorganisms has led to an increased need for innovative and more effective antimicrobials. Green nanotechnology is a promising therapeutic.

A Review of Turkish Natural Gas Distribution Market [PDF]

open access: yes
In Turkey, natural gas consumption started at 0.5 bcm (billion cubic meters) in 1987 and reached approximately 35 bcm in 2007. Turkish natural gas usage is projected to further increase remarkably in coming years. In 2001, a reform process was started to

On Fuzzy Concepts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In this paper we try to combine two approaches. One is the theory of knowledge graphs in which concepts are represented by graphs. The other is the axiomatic theory of fuzzy sets (AFS). The discussion will focus on the idea of fuzzy concept. It will be

Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.

Resolving Topic-Focus Ambiguities in Natural Language [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Natural language has features that are not found in logically perfect artificial languages. One such feature is redundancy, where two or more terms/expressions share exactly the same semantic and logical (but perhaps not pragmatic or rhetoric) properties.

Biochar soil amendments affect mycorrhizal colonization, root nodulation and dry matter accumulation in cowpeas (Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp.)

open access: yesStudia Universitatis Babeș-Bolyai. Biologia
There is increasing demand for renewable inputs to improve soil productivity to satisfy the ever-growing human population. Biochar as a renewable resource has attracted attention over the years as soil amendment, notable for climate change mitigation and

Class IIa HDACs forced degradation allows resensitization of oxaliplatin‐resistant FBXW7‐mutated colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...

Strength through diversity: how cancers thrive when clones cooperate

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumor heterogeneity can offer direct benefits to the tumor through cooperation between different clones. In this review, Kuiken et al. discuss existing evidence for clonal cooperativity to identify overarching principles, and highlight how novel technological developments could address remaining open questions.
