Conformal Metallosaccharide Hybrid Films for Protecting Wood Surfaces From Environmental Damage

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ti‐ribose hybrid films fabricated by molecular layer deposition form a conformal and uniform coating on wood surfaces, which provides water repellence, dimensional stability, and resistance to acidic and alkaline environments, while preserving the natural appearance.

Steering Oxygen Activation Pathways via Redox Dual‐Defects in 2D Hydrated WO3 for High‐Yield Singlet Oxygen Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Redox dual‐defects (Cs substitution and O vacancies) in 2D hydrated WO3 steer O2 activation toward selective singlet oxygen evolution. WO‐CO achieves 8.6–15.8 times higher 1O2 production than single‐defect or pristine catalysts, enabling efficient pollutant mineralization via a pathway‐selective photocatalytic mechanism.

Coupling Anodic Activity and Stability at Ni‐Based Non‐Oxide Catalysts via Coordinating Alcohol Oxidation and Oxygen Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A cooperative and competitive interrelationship between alcohol oxidation (AOR) and water oxidation (OER) was observed on a typical anode catalyst of Ni2P. In situ Raman spectroscopy and electrochemical analyses revealed a specific complementary mechanism between them, in which OER and AOR critically contribute to the activity and stability of anodic ...

Computer simulation of a series and parallel hybrid electric vehicle [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Although the internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle is the most popular vehicle type in the world it has serious problems relating to its exhaust emissions and the limitation of petroleum resource.

Nano‐Scale Characterization of Impurities Segregation in Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cathodic polarization induces impurity segregation in Ni, forming an amorphous Na─Al─Si─O amorphous phase at grain boundaries. Under ultralow oxygen partial pressure, multiple elements dissolve, migrate, and reoxidize within the metal. A patterned model system provides direct nanoscale evidence, clarifying the mechanism of polarization‐driven impurity ...

11th Asia-Pacific Conference on Combustion

open access: yes, 2017
Natural gas is used as an additive to a Diesel engine in a dual-fuel configuration. The natural gas is port injected with the charge, while the Diesel is directly injected. The effect of increasing the energy content contributed by the natural gas (to 11%

INVESTIGATION OF THE EFFECT OF ADDITIVES TO NATURAL GAS ON HEAVY-DUTY SI ENGINE COMBUSTION CHARACTERISTICS

open access: yes, 2013
This work investigates the implications of natural-gas composition on the combustion in a heavy-duty natural-gas engine and on the associated pollutant emissions. Natural gas is injected in ports and mixes with air before entering the cylinder.
