Adiabatic approach for natural gas pipeline computations

open access: yes, 2017
We consider slowly evolving, i.e. ADIABATIC, operational regime within a transmission level (continental scale) natural gas pipeline system. This allows us to introduce a set of nodal equations of reduced complexity describing gas transients in injection/

Characteristics of Interference Fluctuation of Different Types of Stray Currents on Pipelines [PDF]

open access: yesCailiao Baohu
AC/DC stray current interference corrosion has become one of the main causes of pipeline failure and damage, which seriously threatens the safety of pipeline operation. In order to understand the characteristics of different AC-DC stray current ...

Observer-based H∞ PID control for discrete-time systems under hybrid cyber attacks

open access: yesSystems Science & Control Engineering, 2021
In this paper, the observer-based $ H_{\infty } $ PID control problem is studied for linear discrete-time systems subject to hybrid cyber attacks. Two sets of Bernoulli distributed stochastic variables are utilized to characterize the random nature of ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

BACH, a Bayesian Optimization Protocol for Accurate Coarse‐Grained Parameterization of Organic Liquids

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a fully automated Bayesian optimization (BO) protocol for the parameterization of nonbonded interactions in coarse‐grain CG force fields (BACH). Using experimental thermophysical data, we apply the protocol to a broad range of liquids, spanning linear, branched, and unsaturated hydrocarbons, esters, triglycerides, and water.

Transfer Printing and Reconfiguration of Soft Electronics Using Digital Microfluidics and Laser Machining

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This paper presents a digital microfluidics‐based technique for transferring and reconfiguring soft nanomembranes. Laser‐machined nanothin membranes are picked up, transported, and aligned via tailored surface tension and the actuation of water droplets, enabling the development of flexible electronics, the integration of functional materials on 3D ...

Deciphering the Role of Cancer Stem Cells in Breast Cancer Brain Colonization Using a Novel Patient‐Derived Model

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows that stem‐like cells isolated from breast cancer brain metastases drive the spread and growth of tumors in the brain. Among them, a highly adhesive subgroup initiates metastasis and resists many drugs. By closely reflecting patient tumors, these models help identify new targets and improve the development of effective treatments ...
